Stayed for one night with friends for a reunion in November. Prestbury House is very average and nor really worthy of its four stars. Nice large superior room with en-suite was rather cheaply furnished. The bathroom had cork floors which I have not seen since the seventies, had B&Q budget taps and fixtures. The whole building was plastered with signs.... more

Management response from

I was very concerned to read your review especially as recently ,according to other reviews , we have appeared to have been satisfying our guests. I do apologise that we did not meet your expectations. Do you know I agree with you that I have become paranoid -hence the signs. It's no defence but the very same night you stayed...

We loved our room in the Old Coach House - it felt homely but uncluttered and had everything we needed. Service was courteous and prompt and I feel sure that if we'd had any problem it would have been dealt with pleasantly and efficiently. Breakfast was excellent and we had a good evening meal at the pub over the road.... more

We went to Cheltenham because of The Times Literature Festival. We arrived after the official check-in time but Stephen Whitbourn, the owner, was still there to greet us and show us to our room, carrying the bag and explaining everything as we followed him around the large historic building full of interesting pictures and artefacts. A feedback form was included... more

Great hotel on the edge of Cheltenham. Fantastic staff, great breakfast and good sized rooms. Lack of resturant wasn't a problem at all, amazing food available across the road in the Royal Oak inn and Cheltenham's only a 5 min taxi ride away. Would recommend for a quiet weekend away! more

I stayed here for one night with my husband and children. We booked one executive and two double rooms. All were well presented. We were greeted and treated very well and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. The Oak pub around the corner was recommended along with a few others. We wend to the Oak and had a lovely meal. The setting... more

Needing a quick getaway from it all we choose the lovely Prestbury House. The staff were very welcoming and the room was lovely. A nice meal was had at the Royal Oak just over the road and then a relaxing stroll through Cheltenham the next day. Perfect location and just what we needed. Will certainly use again. more

Arriving from the USA, the room was ready early as requested. We were received with courtesy and shown to a large well appointed room overlooking the grounds. Breakfast was plentiful, well presented and served promptly. We loved the speciality preserves. This was a one night stop but we eagerly booked for a three night stop a few weeks later -... more

I stayed in the Prestbury House Hotel on 18th August for one night whilst in Cheltenham on business. I received a very warm welcome, had one of my bags carried to my room and received detailed instructions on the hotel and the area for somewhere to eat. The room was a premier room in the main house and was very... more

We had a wonderful short break at Prestbury House. The owner, Stephen, couldn't have been more helpful or courteous, and the room (a superior in the main building) was very comfortable. Stephen recommended the Royal Oak across the road from the hotel for dinner, and it was so good we went back there the next night too! The breakfast was... more

Perfect place for a second honeymoon, very quiet, friendly staff, awesome breakfast. It´s where the Romantic Road of the Cotswolds begins. Location is great. I´m planning to come back in next years. more
