Spent a week at the Watermill and it was superb. Not enough adjectives to describe this place. The magnificent location in rural Tuscany. The first class accommodation in a historic old mill. The food was absolutely fabulous and the service impeccable. Lois and Bill who own the Watermill are gracious, hospitable and thoroughly charming. I did an Italian language course during my week in October 2023. It is a beautiful language and I am anxious to learn more. The classes were structured informally and the teacher was very patient with beginners like me. The side trips we made to small historical villages for lunch or dinner were handled very well, with private minibus transportation. A day trip to Lucca or Cinque Terre was offered midweek. I chose Lucca and wasn’t disappointed. Visited the museum of my favourite composer Giacomo Puccini a native son of Lucca. Being met in Pisa at the airport before the week at the Watermill was very helpful, as was return trip. I chose to stay the night prior to pickup in Pisa to recover from jet lag. It worked well for me. Everything about the Watermill is first class and I enjoyed every moment of my time there. I recommend it to anyone looking for a different kind of holiday in Tuscany. Susan M.

Fantastic experience staying at the Watermill in October 2023 for an Italian language class. In addition the excursions to Lucca and other interesting places make the experience interesting, educational and fun. The hosts, Lois and Bill Brecken couldn't have been more gracious and entertaining! The food was delicious, beautifully presented and of the highest qualify. Giulia, the Italian language teacher tended to all levels of students learning grammar, pronunciation and speaking this passionate language. If you're looking for something exciting and different, make your reservation now. Thank you Lois and Bill and the entire professional staff.

There’s nothing at all I could say in the negative about my week at The Watermill. I loved it all. The location in the quiet village is so picturesque, the three hosts are lovely, the supporting staff are all friendly and smile all the time. Tim, our watercolour tutor, is talented and good humoured. The Vespa and owner were another highlight. The accommodation is beautiful, full of character and exceptionally clean. I’m pescatarian and was fully catered for with a lovely variety of delicious three course meals with wine; I enjoyed the vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes as well! . Pre- and post- dinner drinks were provided on the vine-covered verandah and in the main lounge respectively. Transport from/to the hotel was included, as it was to the scenic painting locations. There’s a studio for continuing to paint ‘in your own time’ or in poor weather conditions Most of the group were solo travellers and friendly. I highly recommend!

From the moment we arrived to the last minute of our vacation at the Watermill everything was perfect. Bill and Lois were such warm and gracious hosts. Karsten and the other members of the Watermill team were excellent. Our Lippi suite was spacious with a lovely view of the river, the sound of which lulled us to sleep every night. Three delicious meals were served to us in a tastefully decorated dining room with white and red wines at lunch and dinner. The drivers who took us to our exquisite painting sites were punctual and pleasant. Every day we went on a new painting adventure with our talented instructor Tim Wilmot and the weather could not have been better. Bill's informative introduction to each village we went to added to our experience. After a busy day of painting we started the evening with pre dinner beverages and appetizers and after our yummy dinner we enjoyed digestifs and end of day conversations in the cozy lounge surrounded by beautiful watercolour paintings. My husband was not a painter but enjoyed the non painting opportunities offered. Looking forward to our next visit! M & S from Toronto

My mom and I had the most wonderful week at the Watermill - it really is a special place. Lois, Bill, Karsten, and the entire staff made us feel so at home. The scenery is spectacular, the food is delicious and plentiful, and the paining instruction was helpful and personalized. Once you arrive in Pisa, they handle all the details and plan such a fun itinerary. We had a great group and I know that I will always treasure my experience at the Watermill.

I travelled as a non-painting partner for a week-long paining holiday. I would have to say the Watermill surpassed my expectations in every aspect. The accommodation is definitely 5 star, the staff are all friendly and welcoming and the food was outstanding. On top of it all was the planned excursions to some of the local villages and sites that just were stupendous. I thoroughly recommend staying here.

I went last week to the Watermill at Posara and had a really memorable time. Everything that has been written about the Watermill is as everyone says. A beautiful place with wonderful views and delicious food. I made a special request for Coke Zero and there it was in the fridge for guests and plenty of it too. All of the staff and the owners(Lois and Bill) could not be more helpful. They also took us out for meals and to wonderful places in the area. You just go there and relax and they do all the work..apart from the art!. We were lucky enough to have Fiona Graham Mackay as our tutor and that was the icing on the cake. I can 100% recommend going here. You will have a wonderful time.
