I'll start off by saying that this place truly feels like the Old West to me (though it's probably not). It is really a tiny village in the middle of a far reaching desert. We went in December, and arrived in the middle of what we thought was a fierce sandstorm until the waitress in the restaurant told us it... more

My husband and I spent a night here in June 2009 during our annual cross-country road trip. We are very familiar with the Motel 6 chain and Stovepipe Wells is definitely a step or two above. Comfortable, nothing fancy--and we really appreciated that it's dog-friendly. The AC worked fine and we had a TV in our room. Also, WiFi available... more

This is a standard American motel in a unique setting. The Village has a restaurant with good service and friendly staff and a saloon which are reasonably priced with sufficient choice, swimming pool, gift shop, general store and gas station. You're near the sand dunes and Devils Cornfield but you can just admire the terrain and the sunsets without moving.... more

Did we like this place....in a word YES! It's clean, the restaurant is good, there is a bar that is kind of western and comfortable, a great pool, nice gift shop. We traveled through Death Valley in the summer time so the temp. was very, very hot (120 degrees). This is not Las Vegas-there is no Hilton and yes we... more

I've stayed in this hotel twice. Once in Feb of 08 and again in March of 09. It is a no frills establishment but it has the perfect location in the park. My rooms have always been clean, but the hotel could use an update. The food in the restaurant has always been good, especially the breakfasts. Some of the... more

I unexpectedly stayed in Death Valley for a night to break up the journey between Vegas and Yosemite. The choice of accomodation in the area is limited (there's a very expensive resort nearby), but I'm really glad I stayed at Stovepipe. It's very basic, rooms are small, have no TV and have noisy air-conditioning. But the place has a fantastic... more

I stayed here with some friends for 3 nights, but left on the second as it was so bad. My friends had a broken shower and were moved rooms, the next room had what looked like blood stains on the carpet and another shower that didn't work. My room wasn't much better, it was very dated and had furniture that... more

I stayed here with my husband for one night. We only stayed here to break up the drivre from Yosemite to Vegas. This place was nothing special, but then we weren't expecting the Hilton - the room was basic and a bit on the small side, but as we were there just for one night it wasn''t much of an... more

Perfect spot while visiting Death Valley National Park. We drove in from Ridgecrest area - this motel was great - between the north and south portions of the park. We visited the southern part of the park the next day, stayed another night in Stovepipe, then visited the northern portion before heading out to AZ. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Restaurant was... more

This is a basic, no frills hotel/motel which has a magnificent location in the desert. The rooms are comfortable and clean with all of the amenities that you would expect. The restaurant and saloon located on the premises are pretty basic but comfortable and the service is efficient and adequate. The food is also a little basic but remember that... more
