We reserved an "upgraded" King cabin room for our 4 night stay because the lodge was completely booked. Three nights would have been sufficient time to spend there. The room was near what appeared to be a septic field - we ran the bathroom fan during our entire stay to remove the ordor from our the room - very unpleasant.... more

We just spent five nights out at the Lodge and had a great time. I was a little leary because of some of the negative reveiws but the cabins were comfortable and the food was good. Especially considering you are in the middle of nowhere. The guided hikes were informative and after a couple of days we even ventured out... more

My husband and I went to Alaska to experience the great outdoors! That said, the Backcountry Lodge was Excellent. As others have stated if you are the fancy hotel type, don't bother! You will only ruin it for others who are there for one reason, the great outdoors. The food was exellent and plentiful! We will return to the Backcountry... more

We had a great trip - 3 generations; a teen, mother and 73 year old grandmother. There was something for all of us. The food was excellent. While the cost was seems high, it includs everything - all activities, the naturalist programs, the food (Excellent, in my opinion) lodging and trqnsportation from the park entrance. Considering the costs to maintain... more

Don’t let a couple unfavorable reviews you read stop you from booking this wonderful Lodge adventure. First of all folks here is a newsflash…Alaska is rugged. If you want the Ritz or the Hilton, don’t visit the state at all. If you want unspoiled scenery, wildlife, pristine parks and nature…this is the place. That said, we had a great time... more

We were fortunate to see most of Denali on the road to the lodge, as well as quite a bit of wildlife. Our driver, Mark Jordan, a local science teacher, was terrific. The reviews I read and the lodge website did not explain that the lodge provides bug spray, rainpants and headnets for hikers to shield themselves from the weather... more

Our 2-night visit to this "Wilderness" area was very disappointing. Alhough the cabins were lovely, we found the food very average in terms of both quantity and quality. They serve instant coffee, and the juices and iced tea were watered down. However, our biggest disappointment was when we returned from our morning hike to find three busloads of people had... more

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical of our trip here after reading reviews. I'm glad I didn't take it to heart. We had a wonderful time at the Backcountry Lodge. The bus ride was great, very informative. We saw Mt. McKinley the whole way in. The food was good, well balanced, very tasty and the optional... more

We had read some unfavorable reviews about Denali Backcountry Lodge, mainly about the food. We decided that we were going for the views and not the food. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. Everything was wonderful-the food was very good. First night, salmon, second night, roast pork, third night, shrimp & scallops. Each night, a vegetarian entree is offered, and every... more

This lodge was wonderful. We had a great time while we were there. The cabins were quiet and very clean. There were black out curtains (which were very necessary) and the bathrooms were very nice. The food provided was "ok." They have a constant supply of "snacks" which consists of cookies. (I never thought peanut butter cookies could get old,... more
