A fairly typical park lodge: Open fireplace in the lodge sitting area and log construction from the late 1800s. The restaurant was fine (meaning you don't need to think about going elsewhere). Our room was in one of the cabins around the lodge. It was nice enough, but no TV. Ours was not lake front and I'm not sure paying... more

We stayed in the smaller Motor Inn building, upstairs in a corner room. Pros - very close to the camp store; easy to pop over for breakfast items. Room very large, with windows on 2 sides. Cons - Note that there is no ice machine. Ice can only be obtained by taking your room ice bucket to the camp store,... more

We just returned from the most fabulous vacation at Glacier National Park with stays at all of the historic lodges. Our favorite of all was Lake McDonald Lodge where the views where breathtaking and the staff was most accomodating. We stayed in one large cabin rooms with a view of the lake. Our kids enjoyed swimming in the lake every... more

2 night stay in late August - staying in the motor lodge/motel unit in a lower level room. If you have a choice, stay on the second floor as you will hear folks above you walking in their room. The bathroom was one of those where a closet was converted to a bath. You could not turn around in the... more

We didn't stay at the Lodge but went there to eat and were not disappointed, a truly a wonderful meal if not somewhat spendy. Much cleaner in appearance than most of the other lodges we visited and definately much more eatable food. Service was good and our hats off to the chef! more

Lake McDonald Lodge sits proudly on the south-eastern shore of Lake McDonald. It is a beautiful sight… What really adds to the personality and style of Lake McDonald Lodge is all Jammers… there were many of them… I love the jammer cars. They are so well kept and sparkle….Just love them… The lodge is beautiful and very well done. It... more

You won't like any of the Grand Hotels in Glacier if you want modern... One goes there to enjoy the wonderful scenery.. animals and nature. Surely anyone going there would check out the Lodges before they go.. if not they haven't done their homework. We have stayed at all the Grand Hotels in Glacier and Waterton (Canada) and appreciated the... more

I was born about 20 miles from Glacier National Park, but moved to Kentucky when I was 9 years old. I promised myself that someday, when I returned to the park, I would stay at least one night in all the historic lodges within the park. So, in July 2008, as I travelled from Texas to Montana en route to... more

Stayed here for two nights with my family. As with any national park lodging, we didn't expect a great room and we didn't get it. That being said, the room was clean and the atmosphere and upkeep of this old lodge was very good. The staff were great. So friendly and helpful. Although the shower was tiny, the beds even... more

Lake McDonald Lodge is one of the original lodge buildings in Glacier National Park. The lodge has been kept up very well. I loved the benches out by the lake and the quiet, peaceful evenings. The rooms are a decent size and are very basic, but very clean. They have new environmental friendly down-style pillows that were so comfortable. Because... more
