Just returned from 2 nights stay at Kachina Lodge. Stayed on the second floor but without a view of the Canyon. No matter, its just a few yards to the Rim. The Lodge is not pretty and quaint like Hotel Tova, but it probably does not have such squeaky floors either. (although we did notice that our floor squeaked so... more

Did not spend a lot of time in the room but the view was great. The rooms were clean and more spacious than expected. The room was quiet and clean. Can't beat the convenience of the location. Using the shuttle system let use leave our car parked thoughout our stay. more

We spent 3 nights at Kachina in a Partial View Room (#6331) on the second floor. As constantly reviewed, the view of the Canyon through the windows is amazing. The windows also open, but the screen limits picture taking. The Kachina turned out to be much better than I was expecting. It was clean and came with a mini fridge,... more

We spent 2 nights at the Kachina and enjoyed our trip. It is right on the rim. The hotel was very clean. What made this hotel an excellent choice is its location. That is what you are purchasing. You are yards away from the grand canyon south rim. We did not have a room with a canyon view but we... more

This review is to rate the Kachina Lodge, but also provide comparisons to other lodges within the park. We booked a room in Kachina with a partial view, but other than the glass in the window separating us from the room and the canyon, we had a full view of the canyon. There's nothing better than waking up and walking... more

We booked the Kachina Lodge because El Tovar was full and we had heard that you "must" stay on the rim. They were right. It is true the lodge is mired in the 50's in decor and amenities, but the view (we paid for a rim view room)is great. We also woke up to two elk outside our window engaging... more

Stayed at Kachina Lodge 9th and 10th September. It was the most expensive hotel of our trip and the room was the oldest and basic of the whole trip. However you are paying for location and views. We booked a room with partial view a year ago and we ended up in a room with an unobstructed view which was... more

We paid about $200 after tax, and thus got to see the stars on the canyon rim, and dawn on the rim. So great location. No way i'd be happy driving back to town (50 miles away), or even to one of the farther away park hotels. To recap, Kachina is 30 yrd from the rim, is plain, and El... more

I took the recommendations of staying in the park from this forum. We stay at the Thunderbird for 1 night. It was the most expensive hotel out of all the places we stayed during this vacation. We had to drive around for parking near the lodge. I would have stay outside the park, and spend the money on nicer restuarants... more
