We just got back home from a fabulous night at Alta Crystal. The folks who take care of the place are so friendly and helpful, and the resort itself is a little like going to grandma's to spend the night (in a really good way!) Cozy, warm, and so charming. We arrived a few hours early and were lucky enough... more

I spent memorial weekend in Alta Crystal. It was great. You can make great hikes from there, and they provided great recommendations. I enjoyed the cabin, the pool and specially the great conversations I have with the personnel and specially the owners over the bom fire that they prepare everynight. It is a an amazing balance of independence and community.... more

Since 1998, I go back every year. The location is just perfect; minutes from Crystal Ski resort in winter, dozens of amazing trails nearby in spring and Mt. Rainier and its wonders in summer. The resort is a little old but I would not like it other way in such a beautiful setting as it just blends perfectly with nature.... more

We paid $239/night plus tax for a Loft Chalet Suite, there was nothing Suite about it. The rooms are very outdated and a fire hazard. The heaters in the bathrooms are baseboard and we noticed when we arrived to about a 90 degree room that the shower curtains sit right in front of the heaters. The rooms are extremely outdated... more

I was hospitalized with pneumonia and could not make the trip. I called to cancel the reservation. The cancellation was in plenty of time for them to rent the accommodation to someone else – which they did!!. They would not discuss a refund, full or partial, on the phone, even considering the misfortune of my untimely illness, nor would they... more

As you'll see on Trip Advisor, we generally have delighted guests so I was surprised by this review. I just spent about an hour going through reservations from September 2007 to try to figure out what happened , and could find absolutely no instance where we double-booked a room and kept the original guest's money. I agree with the reviewer...

What a delight it was to arrive at Alta Crystal after a long, rainy drive from Astoria, OR! Everything was in perfect order and the staff was most friendly and accommodating. With no restaurant nearby, we had resigned ourselves to preparing dinner in our well-equipped kitchen when we were told there would be a barbecue that evening. And what a... more

We were very pleasantly surprised by this lodge. We stayed here for three nights. The lodges are very spacious and the surroundings could not be more perfect – if you like relative isolation and looking after yourselves. They are clean and the beds very comfortable. Great open fireplaces. If you are looking for this type of experience and accommodation this... more

We stayed one night and checked in late. The staff was very friendly. The suite was dated but clean. It would be a nice place to stay for an extended trip. more

Terrific resort very close to the Sunrise park entrance to Mount Rainier. Good trails right outside your door as well if you don't want to drive. Pool is heated and stays open late. Grocery store on site, while small has everything you really need with little markup. Rooms are good if just a little dated but it feels like it... more

We stayed at the Alta Crystal Resort for several days in August, 2008. Our group included my wife, my daughter, her husband and her three young children. This place is wonderful! This is in a gorgeous setting surrounded by beautiful forest. Very nice rooms, a big loft, great fireplace (logs supplied daily), comfortable beds, nice bathrooms (good showers), kitchen functional... more
