A great location within Kings Canyon - we drove into the park from the Bay Area, toured the canyon and then checked into the lodge. Had dinner in the local restaurant - it was fine. Room was comfy, clean but a bit noisy - from the hallways. The decor was woodsy, beds comfortable. Overall, a good stay. I could see... more

This is yet another example of a hotel that is brought down by its housekeeping staff. The rooms are nice and comfortable. They are nicely furnished in a "woodsy" motiff. The hotel is relatively new. For those familiar with national park lodging- this is as good as it gets. Think a Best Western etc. in a national park. Unforunately, the... more

We did like the lobby with the enormous rock fireplace, comfy sofas, chairs and tables for games (which appeared to be in good supply) or wi fi for your laptop. Too bad they don't have extended internet service in the rooms. As others have stated, there's not much to do there after dark. No cell service either. Great location but... more

Stayed here for 1 night in winter with family of 4 in a double room. Plenty of room in the room which is a good thing because there is inst much to do after dark, as is typical in a NP. Rooms have no TV so we entertained ourselves with card games, reading and wireless internet. Room is more like... more

Very comforatable room in this "log cabin" style lodge right in the middle of the Kings Canyon National Park. We stayed here initially because we did not fancy the 1 hour plus drive out of the Park, but were very pleased we did. The rustic feel of the property is seen in the fireplace setting of the large lounge, and... more

We are a family of four (2 adults, 11 and 9 year olds) and we stayed in here as part of a 3 week holiday in California. We really enjoyed our 3 day stay at the Lodge. It is right in the middle of the forest and is so quiet that we saw deer just outside the window. The check... more

You are either a fan of National Park Lodges or you are not. This one is about as close as you can get to traditional "parkitecture" in Sequoia/Kings Canyon; it's really a modern Days Inn type structure with a lot of lipstick to make it feel like a National Park Lodge. The fact is that the original classic Sequoia/Kings Canyon... more

No complaints. Quiet. Plenty of room. Comfortable beds. Beautiful Scenery. Very close to Visitor's Center, Restaurant, Grants Grove and other things. My wife and I took our two 8 year old granddchildren and had a great time hiking, going on nature walks with the rangers, going to the great visitors center, enjoying the campfire and talk by 'John Muir'. Meals... more

When staying in a NP I always go into it expecting the least and hoping for more. Muir Lodge is a newer building and the rooms were surprisingly big. Also had internet access in the lobby/sitting area. Food options in Grant Grove are expensive and limited. Only stayed 1 night but if I had more time would definitely stay here... more

We've stayed at many national park lodges and cabins before and knew to expect the accommodations might be 'rustic'. In fact the John Muir Lodge is quite modern compared to most having been built in 2000 (per a plaque on the building). We had a quite large room with 2 queens. The furnishing was a little sparse and the lights... more
