.... for a National Park -- in fact, exactly what I had hoped for and expected when we made our reservation for this lodge. No TV's is a good thing, so we don't have to listen to one blaring down the hall, disturbing the wonderful quiet ambience of a national park such as this.We were there in June -- had... more

Like previous reviews, there was no TV anywhere....but, there were families and couples in the lodge lobby (think homey big common room with warming fireplace) playing board games, reading books and enjoying each others company. This is definately not the place for the person that needs to be entertained by the TV/radio. We loved it. There is free Wifi in... more

There are NO tv's ANYWHERE none in the rooms or lodge, a laptop or DVD player is MUST,unless you enjoy going to bed a 8pm out of sheer boredom, in the late fall its dark by 5. The restaurant was okay, its the ONLY one for miles,so it was your only choice, food was okay, a little overly priced (frozen... more

This is in a great location. The room was very basic for the price and found the member of staff who chequed us in very rude with a couldnt care less attitude.I wouldnt say that we were hard to please, but expect to get what we pay for,the food in the restaurant was also poor with terrible service. We have stayed in lots... more

The best part about the lodge is the fireplace and board games in the common area (lobby?) since there are no tvs in the rooms and not much to do in the woods after dark. There are porches for stargazing! The restaurant is great and just a short walk down the hill. The room was clean, very basic, bed was... more

We stayed at the John Muir Lodge for one evening on our honeymoon. The location is perfect, a short walk to the main touristy-tree viewing area. We played around in that area for a while guawking at the trees and trying to find a less crowded area. The place could use a lot more signs although everyone else seemed to... more

We stayed at the Lodge for 2 nights at the start of Oct. We had a King room which was a large size and keep a nice temp. Grant Grove is a great base for exploring Kings Canyon and getting to Sequoia National Park. The lodge has a nice big common room with some board games and free WiFi. Meals... more

Comfy large room in a stunning national park. The restaurant has normal prices, friendly and efficient staff but lacks atmosphere. The John Muir Lodge should have Wifi in the lounge, it was however not available during our stay. This is a great basis for exploring the Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks. more

With a restaurant and small market very close by (walking distance), this lodge is the perfect spot to stay at while exploring Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The rooms are pretty much like normal chain hotel rooms and are clean and comfortable. The lodge also has a common area with a fire place, porches, and free wi-fi. The nearby... more

As Park lodging goes, the Muir Lodge is fairly good. The rooms were nicely decorated and relatively clean. Coffee maker in room, with tea also. Shower was good with plentiful towels. Housekeeping staff very friendly. Lobby nicely done and with a fireplace. The beds were OK; bed coverings needed cleaning though. Staff were all very friendly And the location is... more
