We are a family of four, with kids ages 6 and 10. This is a working farm, and it seems as though everyone works very hard running a B&B, fixing fabulous breakfasts and tending the sheep, chickens, alpacas and steer. We planned a last minute motorcyle ride to San Juan Island and almost every other hotel or B&B was booked (or overpriced). States Inn had a great deal for their Rhode Island room and for one night it was perfect. The owners are very laid back and helpful. We loved their homemade cookies, delicious breakfast, and interesting guests. more

After reading the other reviews, everyone has pretty much gotten it right. A friend and I stayed two nights in the S. Carolina room b/c it allowed for two twin beds (which were very comfy). San Juan Island is a dream. If you stay at the Ranch, you MUST have a car b/c it is a ways from the harbor.... more
