A delightful stay. The hosts were all very welcoming and helpful, entertainment in the form of a camel cart ride, a music and dancing demonstration and an evening dressed in royal costume, with a candle- lit dinner on the roof. Beautiful setting, and comfortable, exotic rooms. We were given a tour of the village, and a visit to the local... More

Most fascinating place, hidden in! One can experience the village life and also get treated like royals! Owners take personal interest and food is amazing! Personally I get lot of peace of mind when I stay there. A must visit !

Fort Barli is an incredible boutique hotel experience and is well off the beaten tourist track. The Fort is privately owned and has been in the family for 16 generations so it's unique to stay somewhere with so much history that can be shared firsthand. The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming, as are the rest of the staff... We... More

Barli was a breath of fresh air in the middle of our holiday in Rajasthan. We really wanted to see the real India away from the tourist areas and this was an example of the Indian hospitality and village life. We were the only residents for 1 night and had the beautiful main suite full of warm colours. The food was... More

Fort Barli was a recommendation and OMG what a fantastic one. What a wonderful two nights in a calm & serene place. The staff were amazing and the parakeets, peacocks and the most welcoming black Labrador called Shadow made for a warm welcome. I want to rave on about the place so that everyone goes and visits but on the... More

We visited Fort Barli as part of a two week tour of Rajastan. As other reviewers have commented, it is a complete contrast to the major tourist spots on most itineraries. It is a beautiful, family owned and run fort which feels an integral part of the community and we enjoyed our tours of both the fort and the village.... More

We were the only guests in this beautiful fort, and were given the main bedroom which was sumptuous, with lovely furniture and outside seating. The small pool was delightful, though larger sun parasols would be good. We had a delightful candlelit meal by the pool which was delicious. I had chosen vegetarian and the selection of different vegetables and pulses... More

This was our first trip to India, a long-awaited dream. We came to Fort Barli after a long train and car journey from hectic, noisy, challenging Delhi. Really not knowing what to expect, we found ourselves in a world that was a complete contrast: the dramatic old fort existing harmoniously with the busy village which surrounded it. Get up early... Its like stepping into the past when you walk into Fort Barli. The cobbled pathway, the courtyards, the rooms. Our hosts the young couple Karni & Pallavi are most welcoming and around for all your needs.Spent 1 night and was looked after like family.A lot of work still has to go into the restoration of the Fort and is happening slowly. The breakfast and... It's very difficult to review this Hotel. Partly because I don't want to share it and because I don't want to spoil this absolutely fantastic gem of a place to stay. Words can't describe the ambience of the fort itself and as for the villagers...well, is there a happier place on the planet, I think not. History, Comfort, Happiness, Great... More
