We were looking for a pleasant stay. After all this B&B was recommended by the Alistair Sawdays website, which we like very much – or should I say liked? I try to be as objective as I can – had I written this review directly after our stay it would have been a lot worse.
The B&B is on the outskirt of Vimeiro, a village close to Santa Comba Dao. Vimeiro, the birthplace of the dictator Salazar, has little to none to offer. The much larger Santa Comba Dao is a rather non descript small town - after the vibrant towns and villages of Northern Portugal a bit of a let down.
The B&B is located on the shores of an artificial lake formed by a dam further downstream. It is difficult but not impossible to find. Arriving during daylight is recommended. Unfortunately the water level was very low unlike what is shown on the B&B's website. No way you would swim in the green algae water.
