We decided to holiday in the UK this year, mainly due to the awful Pound/Euro exchange rate. Booked a lovely little cottage, "The Bakehouse", in Birnam ( 'Cottages 4 You') and are now hooked on the area. Despite changeable August weather we had a terrific time. Fantastic area if you enjoy walking and fishing. The children ( 7 & 12 ) absolutely loved it - plenty of scope in surrounding area for adventure. Visited the actual 'Birnam Oak' (Shakespeares Macbeth)! Warm afternoons spent having lunch outdoors on the balcony with children playing in the garden below. Wet days we spent indoors playing board games in front of the blazing fire. Simple pleasures....best ever. Best of all - none of the usual airport stress, passports, luggage, etc etc.
Better still we saved a fortune! Roll on next year... more
