I'm gong to be really honest here, after reading the bad reviews ( of which there were only 3) we nearly didn't stay there. BUT we did and we were pleased we did because Karen the new owner since April 2011 was just great. a great host, with beautiful accommodation . We were given the downstairs apartment which was really... More

We have stayed in the Sounds several times now but this was the first time we had ventured 'off the tourist track' and boy was it worth it. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, from the minute you arrive you feel at home. As Karen and Peter welcome you into their home all your stress is left on the... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights with our 4 months old baby in Nov. It was a lovely, spotless clean and very relaxing place to stay with great food and very friendly hosts. Beautiful views in a stunning surrounding. Great place for a romantic break. Next time we’ll go without the baby. Sorry Lua x More

We travelled to NZ in our honeymoon. And this B&B stay was one of the best. Place was exactly as we imagined it - nice and romantic! Location around B&B is very beautiful and near Queen Sharlotte track. Hosts Jackie and Kerry are very hospitable and dinner was delicious! Before we travelled to NZ we saw National Geographic programme about... More

We travelled througout the South Island during the month of November, stayed at numerous B&B's and self accommodation apts/hotels. This was our 1st stop after a couple of nights in Wellington. What a sensational set up, you're on the road where you have access to the Queen Charlotte track. The room has stunning views of the water and it's own... More

This beautiful modern house overlooks the Sounds, (hence the name) where the scenery is always changing. Perched on high, the views are gorgeous especially for a Townie like me. I cannot recommend the service I received from my 2 hosts Jackie and Kerry too highly! The food was excellent with all fresh ingredients from their sloping veggie plot or from... More

I've stayed in loads of B&Bs all over the world and Sounds of Silence had it all for me. We went just after Christmas time and couldn't have been greeted with better hospitality. We truly felt like guests of the wonderful hosts and Jackie in particular was a legend with a wonderful sense of humour. Fantastic brekkie and we were... More

We stayed at Sounds of Silence over the Christmas/New Year break and found it to be a great experience. The hosts Kerry & Jackie were fab - friendly, knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble and Jackie's breakfast was first class. The accommodation was well set up - we occupied the whole of the lower ground floor and was a great... More
