Apart from bad weather we had two relaxing days in and around Mangawhai. The lodge was a good base from which to explore the area. Nice views and good breakfast! More

A beautiful house with amazing views from our room, from our private verandah, from the wrap-around shared verandah, and from the large dining room and guest common-room. The bathroom arrangements are variable -- our ensuite had a shower and toilet with a washbasin in the bedroom, and some private bathrooms are in a shared corridor. BUT DON'T LET THIS PUT... More

We booked two nights at Mangawhai Lodge via their website. When we arrived it was all we wanted: Private, cosy, personal, yet not intrusive. Jeanette managed to keep the traditional feel of the lovely house. When she pottered away in the kitchen - creating all sorts of delicious scents - we were already looking forward for breakfast the next day,... More

I just travelled 10 nights around the northern part of the nth island and had a ball. The standard of B&Bs in this region are exceptional. This place is in the same class. Stunning outlook over the Mangawhai heads with the ocean in the background. The common areas are big. With balcony's running around the house, there are a number... More

I've never really been a big B&B fan but Jeanette has won me over. Her naturally friendly hospitality is the icing on the cake to the stunning views and well appointed rooms. She makes you feel so welcome and relaxed that it feels like you're in your own home. She's also a wealth of information on what to do in... More

We stayed our 2nd night in NZ at the Mangawhai Lodge and were the only guests so we could select a room for ourselves. Jeannette is a great host and she gave us a lot of information about the area and our next days trip. Thanks again for the warm welcome. Her place is sitting on a hill with a... More

We booked for two nights and were upgraded to the 2 bed room suite. There is the most amazing decks and views. Jeanette who was our host did a great job and looked after every enquiry. A genuine 10 minutes walk to Wood Street and cafe's. Can recommend to all travellers. More

We spent 2 nights at Mangawhai Lodge during our 2 week driving tour of the North Island of NZ. We stayed at half a dozen high end B&Bs during our trip. All were excellent and rated at 5 stars, including Mangawhai Lodge. We stayed in the Deluxe Suite. The house and facilities are excellent; the Deluxe Suite is beautifully fitted... More

After the long flight from Scotland and 1st night in Auckland we needed to recharge our batteries. We could not have found a more relaxing, homely welome than the Mangawhai Lodge. The owner Jeanette was the perfect host, willing to help with all aspects of our short stay. The views, the breakfasts and the lodge in general were superb. We spent... More
