Uzungol used to be a beautiful mountain village beside a lake (Uzungol means "long lake" in Turkish). Today there are a few too many hotels and souvenir shops, but I'd still recommend staying here as a base for touring the area, which consists of spectacular "alpine" mountains.
Although there are several hotels, they appear to be all locally owned and operated.
We stayed three nights in a family "bungalow" at the Ensar motel, which appeared to be one of the more up-market establishments. We could have had rooms in the hotel at a higher price.
The "bungalow" conisted of a bedroom with double bed, a washroom with shower, toilet and washbasin, and a living room with two sofas that convert to single beds.
Our bungalow was clean, and adequately equipped on arrival. The staff did not provide any cleaning services during the course of our stay. I assume this is normal for the bungalow accomodation.
