This is the second time we stayed at the Ship Ahoy. We were also there in June of 2007. I'll tell you the minus side first.... the walls are VERY thin... you can hear, very clearly, what is going on around and above you. The rooms have no phones, microwaves, refrigerators or coffee makers. This motel appears to be very... more

While we were visiting Boothbay Harbor we stopped at the Visitors Center. They suggested Ships Ahoy Motel in Southport and we are glad they did. We liked it there so much we booked an additional night and if we ever retrun to Maine we will stay there for the week. Beautiful views...no traffic noise...clean rooms.....little coffee shop for doughnuts in... more

The good: the view was outstanding and our room was clean and cleaned well during our stay. The bad: room was freezing cold on a rainy weekend, TV had very little to choose from, rock hard beds with rough itchy linens, terrible coffee at the "coffee shop", shower sprayed every which way, door did not latch properly. If we visit... more

We read the previous reviews carefully, and reserved our rooms with our expectations set accordingly. We knew that the walls were thin and sounds carried (so we had earplugs): we knew that there were minimal amenities (so we brought our own shampoo and styrofoam cooler and cell phones, and planned on only having 4 TV channels): we knew that continental... more

While looking for motels in Maine, we came across Ship Ahoy. It had everything we wanted, cheap, great view and a swimming pool. We decided this was the motel we wanted to stay at for a week. When we were checking in the lady was real helpful and very nice. After we got our key we walked to our room... more

Ship Ahoy or Man Overboard. This place should be your last choice even after you thought of sleeping in your car. Even If I was younger and I was going to take my girlfriend for a nice weekend, I would be concerned what she or me for that matter might get something sleeping here. Read all the other reviews and... more

Besides the large red stain on the bedpad and very hard coil mattresses(great for me but not my wife) and the paper thin walls, the Ship Ahoy is the best deal going, except for the local campground. Room was clean, sunny, and the most basic motel room you will ever find. No internet, no phone,no cable, no coffee, not even... more

My husband and I with our daughter and son in law spent 4 wonderful days at the Ship Ahoy Motel in beautiful Boothbay Harbor the first week in August. The rooms in the Far East were not luxurious but they were certainly clean and neat with fresh linens and comfortable beds. The bathrooms were very clean with plenty of hot... more

Friends have stayed every summer, for years, at Ship Ahoy. We decided to give it a try. The location could not be more beautiful, a million dollar view for very little money. The decor was 1960, paneling and harvest gold. Beds were very comfy, linens fresh and crisp. Chambermaid did a great job and was very helpful offering to help... more

We chose this motel because of its proximity to a wedding venue, knowing that it was quite basic. It is. However, we found it to be clean and adequate. It's not a room to linger in, but the view from our room was unbeatable. True, the TV doesn't have cable, but who comes to the coast of Maine to watch... more
