When we visited Antigua (Aug 3 - 12, 2007), Galleon Beach Hotel was shut down, and we were told, possibly for good. The restaurant, Calabash, was working to open by Aug 14. Well painted, clean, large and airy. The cottages have basic furniture but comfortable. They also have a full kitchen. Prior to arriving, you can ask the hotel to go grocery shopping, which we did. What a fabulous cottage, right on the beach, with the trade wind blowing through from front to back to keep us cool in the night. Difficult to give this one a rating. Sub-standard accommodation in a lovely setting. The beachfront duplex was tired, to say the least. Keep in mind that the villas do not have television, air condtioning nor phones and remember that you are on an island vacation so who needs those?
