After the noise and bustle of Havana Viejo we wanted something a little quieter and headed out to Vedado for our lodging. Vedado is a beautiful area full of broad streets and old villas and mansions. Parks and sculptures make the area easy on the eye , and being so close to the Malecon, it's just the place for an early evening stroll.
We stayed at Martha's, a lovely Edwardian townhouse. The ceilings were high with ornate cornices and the floors were marvelous old tiles. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, with air conditioning and old wooden shutters. Our hosts, Martha and Julio spoke good English and were delightful in their stories. They were very friendly and welcoming. Sara cooked us a delicious traditional meal and got up at the crack of dawn to make sure we had a good breakfast before our flight. A great place to stay.
