Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as part of a twin center holiday. when we booked we weren't expecting much apart from the basics. we were impressed with room which was on the 23rd floor the view was amazing. the thing that let it down was that we were left with a broken bed for 2 of the 3... We stayed here for two nights as part of a package. We found staff to be efficient and helpful. The room was perfectly serviceable (we slept well), even though the fixtures and fittings were showing their age and the window didn't open. The breakfast buffet was excellent - on a par with some of the best hotels I have stayed... More

We were booked for 4 nights, arrived midnight to unfriendly staff and a room that already had people sleeping in it, returned to be told the hotel was full but was sent to a second room which also already had someone sleeping in it. Third time we asked for the Manager who got us a room that was empty because... More

We had the misfortune of staying here for 1 night in January (only because all other hotels were fully booked). This place doesn't seem to know the meaning of maintenance, and would definitely be closed down in other countries. The corridors in the hotel were horrible with stained, stinking carpet, plaster falling off the walls and black mould happily growing... More

My wife and l stayed there for only 2 nights and that was enough for us to hate it. It was originally built as Hilton than has been taken over during the revolution and probably has been renovated only a few times. It is very old and it is not being taken care of at all. Food was disaster, l... More

We had 4 nights on a Highlights of Cuba tour ,on 3 days there was no hot water in our room on the 13th floor ,corridors had filthy carpets and smelled. I dont think windows and brasswork has been cleaned for years. This must have been a nice hotel years ago but to say its tired is being kind. More

It does seem that regardless of what floor you stay on the corridors do smell of damp but the few seconds you spend in them is really irrelevant to your stay and I am assuming that this is from the humidity in the atmosphere causing this slight damp smell. The hotel is (according to our Cuban guide) only rented from... More

On a 2 day trip to Havana from Varadero we stayed overnight at this hotel. What a ghastly hotel. To be fair our room was spacious and comfortable with a great view but in the morning the water was on the wrong side of tepid - not good for a shower. We were on the 13th floor. On exiting the... More

After staying a couple of times at Hotel Nacional, I this time decided to try out the Habana Libre. Positive things first: The views are spectacular! Please: book a room high up and "invest" in a room with ocean view. It`s impressive! Malecon, hotel Nacional, the ocean, centro Habana, the old city, the fortress... it`s all there! And in the... We were forced to stay here one night as our booked hotel had a diplomatic party staying there who extended there stay for one night. We were put on the fifth floor and as soon as you stepped off the elevator, the smell of mold hit you in the face. Some of the rooms had black mold going up 2... More
