Stayed here one night with some friends before heading outside central Havana to find a casa particular (which I would highly recommend). The service was poor, and there was no response to the several emails I sent them concerning an upgrade from 2 beds too 3 - which led to me sleeping in another hotel one night before being able... First of all you cannot compare Cuban structures with the rest of the Hotel Industry in the world , years of a difficult economic situation have left a mark . That being said I had a wonderful experience a The Plaza . The architecture is splendid , solid Spanish colonial a beautiful lobby with a fountain that shows you the... More

I found Hotel Plaza very authentic and well located. Rooms were humbily furnished but adequate for my needs. What surprised me when dining on the first night however was seeing older men 'courting' much much younger girls before my eyes. There is an apparent 'keaness' for people to make money at any costs. Wearing my sociologial hat I saw a... More

Looks great for the outside, spectacular rooftop terrace, fantastic location right by the historic part of town. Slightly 'faded glory' romance to it. That said, we stayed here twice and both times we had a room like a pitch dark walk-in cupboard. But then you don't come to Havana to stay in your room I guess.

Let's make it clear: Cuba standards are below world average. And this hotel respects the Cuban tradition. But it is fascinating to spend some time in a colonial building in the center of Havana. At least you will have the possibility to see in action the most efficient reception desk I have ever seen in my life. A group of... More

Situated in the heart of Old Havana, it's an ideal place to see the old town. Yes, it's a tired, 104-year-old-building that was once 'glorious'. Yes, the food leaves something to be desired. (That's Cuba, eh?) BUT, the beds were comfortable, the A/C worked fine, there was a TV, a small fridge, a safe, lots of hot water and friendly,... More

This is a beautiful colonial building perfectly situated close to Old Havana. The room we had was dreadful. Mould on the shower room ceiling. Uncomfortable beds - 2 large singles when we booked a double and very dodgy electrical sockets. And no window so rather like being in a prison cell. Avoid

Stayed here twice during three weeks. Beautiful lobby, location and excellent service. Food good, breakfast was a bit of a rush when there were large tour groups staying, otherwise good. Great views from the top floor (where restaurant is located) and wonderful location for walking old Havana, which one should definitely do. Helpful staff on reception. Maintenance in the rooms... I always return to that magic place. It is a real flashback to the 30's-40's. The rooms are fine, the staff is also great. Lobby bar is well priced and grand looking. Roof top restaurant offers a great view of the Capitolio building. Frankly it is greatly situated in the middle of it all, and close by to all that... More

On the plus side: You can walk all over old Havana from here, the lobby is beautiful, great view from the roof-top restaurant, reasonable priced sandwiches available at the bar. Negatives: Some of the rooms are in pretty rough shape. Phone in my room didn't work. Door to refrigerator cabinet was falling off. The breakfast buffet often runs out of... More
