We spent three nights here in May 2009. Yes, the fixtures could use updating, but everything worked...lots of hot water, air conditioning worked, ect. Baled out into this hotel following a disaster with casa elsa y julio roque. Next to the NH Central it does look a bit old but it is under half the price and it had a room. We had room 422 an outside room which was comfortable enough. Air con worked and we had hot water in the shower. Enjoyed... more

After reading the other reviews i thought some people were a bit picky. The Plaza is fine for the price, a 100 year old classic Havana stable which is suffering like most of the other buildings within the city. The cuba star rating doesn't align with western standards. The breakfeast is an eclectic mix, look hard and you can find something you will eat. The location is great, a short walk from sites... more

Because of the swine flu, my partner and I had to deal with several days of cancelled flights so we actually ended up staying at the Hotel Plaza in 3 different rooms.
