this hotel is a "gem" it's just that it is not in the city, so a bus or cab has to be taken. I travelled with friends in July 2009 for 1 week and stayed at the hoteles tropicoco's. Our 1st night that we arrived it was at night so everything was closed, we walked the beach and they had... more

** This is a 2 star hotel that could be a 4 star if they tried. But they don't, so it is a 2 star. This hotel reminded me of North America's Motel 6. It is a budget hotel. You will feel cheap staying there. That can be a good thing if you actually are poor or tend to feel... more

Came back to Tropicoco for two weeks in November and my experience was much better than in January this year. The staff treated me really nice and provided me with a large bedroom in the fourth floor. Food and alcohol were great, and I did not get sick this time. Yes! I gave tips at the bars and restaurant and... more

Great spot, I thought the elevators would not work, they did. My room was renovated and as we speak, the 5th and 6th food are under some construction, with the outside walls getting new paint. I was on the 4th floor with a beautiful view of the ocean with its sandy beach, full of tourists and locals. I thought the... more

I was worry going to the hotel after i read the negative review. Do not believe it at all PROS: food -- good -- good selection: chicken, beef, lamp, pork, fish, meatball, soup salad beach -- excellent -- locates in front building, just foot step away location -- 20 min FREE shuttle from Havana, twice a day service -- friendly... more

if it weren't for some of the older men hanging out with the younger cuban women, we would recommend this place. incredible value here for an all inclusive (we paid about $1600 for 3 people for one week including flight!! that's what you would pay for one person from vancouver normally) pros: i) across from the most beautiful beach near... more

Having travelled to many parts of Cuba in 2-5 star hotels, over a 20 year period, this hotel really stands out. Clearly, by the male guests' own admission to me, this place is known as a sex tourist destination. They were surprised that I did not know of this reputation. Not that it doesn't go on elsewhere, but here it... more

We stayed for a week in May and thoroughly enjoyed this all inclusive hotel. Location is excellent. The lovely white sand beach is across the street and Havana is only a short cab or free shuttle bus ride away. Our 3rd floor oom was clean, well attended to through the week, had a nice view or the beach, nice new... more

Hotel: weirdest architecture I ever seen - massive concrete blocks with tiny windows. Lack of light everywhere, very depressive and ugly. Lack of signs, especially in English, makes difficult to find places and services you need, especially first days. Many of lobby armchairs are old and broken. Swimming pool is clean but located in a kind of concrete patio, surrounded... more

There are a few things that should be said about the Tropicoco. I was there from March 26- April 2 and thought it was a good fit with what I wanted to do in Cuba in general and Havana in particular. I wanted an economical clean hotel with a nice beach, free drinks and food, with free, easy access to... more
