The Florida is a lovely old restored building right in the heart of old havana. Friendly english speaking staff, reasonable restaurant (for Havana) and traditionally furnished rooms with large bathrooms, very effective AC, sensibly priced mini-bar and satellite TV. The hotel was clean with nice rooms. Old Havana was Ok for one night but no more. To many hassles in the street with people trying to sell you fake cigars including hotel staff. Food was Ok in the Hotel but avoid the hotel bar. The Bar staff where rude and overcharge for drinks. Also be careful in the hotel... more

The building is beautiful, the location great and thats where it ends. There were thefts in 5 rooms while we were there, including our own. The hotel completely denied this, saying we must have lost our possessions, all of us. They just stood there and said 'no you lose it' They wouldnt call the police to take a report because... more

We recently returned from a trip to Cuba in whch we stayed at two hotels in Havana, the Florida and the Nacional. All four of us loved the Hotel Florida. Stayed at the Florida for 3 days in May as part of our honeymoon. Hotel is a lovely restored colonial building right in the centre of the old town. The rooms were comfortable with air con, table and chairs, large wardrobe (inc safe), big bathroom and balcony. The chambermaids did a great job and left us some lovely towel sculptures... more

Upgraded to suite upon arrival. Nice staff and the best location. We had so much fun! Two negatives in our stay. One-the air conditioning seemed to turn down at night. During the day the room felt cool and refreshing but a few times during our stay we woke up very hot in the middle of the night. The other issue... more

Choosing an Old Havana hotel seemed a lottery....but this IS A GOOD PLACE TO STAY. I've read other reports about staying in the room over the nightclub...and that is exactly the room we had! You are lulled to sleep with the Salsa rhythm...or you were in the nightclub anyway ! Staff here were generally much better than (the more expensive)... more
