As others have written, this is not a great hotel, but nevertheless I continue to stay there each year on annual visits to Camaguey. In fact, my most recent experience in the Hotel Camaguey (November 2011) was worse than usual as the elevator had not functioned for at least two weeks, the satellite TV service worked only half the time,...

To sum the place up: Dingy, dirty, shabby, noisy and all round down-at-heel. This is not the sort of place you would stay if there was a better alternative. It is built in the 'Russian' style of the 1970s with pokey, dimly lit rooms with poor aircon which is very noisy. Nothing about the place inspires confidence from the too...

Arrived mid afternoon after a 40mile cycle to be told I had to leave my bike outside with a guard. Nowhere to chain the bike to just to each other (2 of us had bikes).
This was the first hotel to have a carpark guard and immediatly sounded alram bells. After two hours of moaning and not putting our bikes...

- Er not much else....
Bad:

- Smelly washrooms (urine stench)
- Pillows a little past prime (smelt like previous guests)
- Terrible beds (kept sinking in the middle -> backaches...

When I arrived to...

It was a pretty nice hotel. Reception staff were really hospitable and although the facility doesn't have irons, one of the chambermaids was more than happy to iron our stuff for us which was good. She didn't ask for anything but tipped her generously for her trouble - she didn't need to do that for us.
Showering/bathing facilities in the...

This is a surprisingly charming hotel given that it looks like a giant concrete block with straight lines cut out of it. The rooms are clean and well presented. They have air con and there is a bar and nice pool area. The staff are very helpful and friendly and this is the exception in Cuba where many don't understand...

Stayed at this hotel for one night during a trip round Cuba.
The hotel seemed fine for the price but on the morning that we were leaving, they decided to fumigate the place without giving us any warning! The fumes were unbearable, I imagine quite dangerous and we couldn't see a thing on the way out of the hotel, as...
