I stayed at hotel Canimao in March 2005. The hotel is a bit outside Maranzas. It’s well run and a great value. 22.5 CUC for a single! If you want to visit the Matanzas version of the Tropicana, it’s right next door and you can get a reduction in the entrance fee for staying at the hotel :-) Only! Dooo... more

Kind of like an old Holliday Inn. Helps to know some spanish but not much is required. Rooms are comfortable and the clean up staff really works hard to make things nice for you. The setting is wonderful right above a river and not far from the beach. It is low key and I would go back in a minute.... more
