Varadero, Cuba, is an amazing destination. From the turquoise ocean and white sugar sand, to the excursions into Havana and the countryside, we were wowed. We moved to Solymar after our first resort was deplorable. We were greeted to a fantastic lobby with lush plants and friendly front desk staff. Yes, our room was not ready, but we had no problems waiting the half hour it was going to take walking around the resort. The buffet was good, but one does not go to Cuba... more

food was not my fav - beach is very nice. People that worked there were very helpful. The room was clean. It was xmas and they set of fireworks on dec 25th. Exchange money at the bank/teller not at the front desk... they charged a large fee for exchange. no pool bar but a bar at the beach. Limited sport... more

The beach was wonderful. The hotel consisted of three floors and there was an elevator that took forever to reach your destination (it was also so hot in the elevator).
