Our family stayed at Papillote in April and had a wonderful time. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The gardens are beautiful and the pools very relaxing. We highly recommend Papillote. more

Great place to stay in true rainforest setting. Fantastic gardens to wander through or just sit and watch the wildlife (many humming birds). Low-key (we hate big hotels), but friendly and efficient service. Excellent local food - we opted not to go for the meal plan, but ended up eating breakfast, lunch and dinner here a few times. Not your... more

Before you even leave home, understand that Dominica really is an unspoiled wilderness. Leave behind your notions of upscale accommodations, sophisticated service, a hassle free airport, a shopping Mecca and any sense of urgency about anything. Roads are treacherously narrow, extremely steep with hairpin turns and pitch black after sunset. Papillote is about a 90 minute drive from the airport... more

Our experience definitely encompassed all of the best things I've seen written about Papillote! Refreshing, friendly, super clean, delicious food, wonderful setting, delightful host, comfortable rooms, lots of activities, or none, depending on our mood of the day. We were a family of 4, with active members and one temporarily unable to do much walking. Activities were arranged for us... more

Stayed here on the recommendation of friends and it did not disappoint. The setting is lovely ( a 2 min. walk from Trafalgar Falls), it is renowned for it's gardens and they were indeed lovely. We stayed in the best room with its own sulpher spring pool just outside the door, other pools are available, equally nice if not so... more

My family just returned from a week's stay at Papillote Wilderness Retreat. What a fabulous place! The rooms are sweetly nestled in the rainforest, surrounded by fragrant flowers and waterfalls that naturally run both hot and cold. You fall asleep at night lulled by the sounds of the night forest and romantic fragrances of night blooming flowers just outside your... more

If you are looking for a calm and serene environment to spend your vacation make sure you stay at Papillote which is just about 20 minutes drive from the capital Roseau. I had a great time in the 4 hot water pools and one cold water pool all of them surrounded with beautiful plants and stunning waterfalls. It is right... more

This is the most beautiful place on the entire island. The gardens are wonderful, the 4 different mineral baths are great, the banana quit sings at dinnner time and peepers put you to sleep. The peacock wakes you up and you can hear the waterfalls all day while you watch the humming birds. There's too much to talk about, the... more

Cannot say enough about this place. Truly a piece of heaven on earth. You become totally absorbed in the natural beauty around you. Huge tree ferns, hummingbirds, waterfalls, hot mineral baths, orchids, flowers of every color and scent, coco trees, cool mountain breezes. Excellent meals, wonderful local staff, clean nicely arranged rooms. It was very hard to leave this hotel.... more

We just returned from Dominica after spending a relaxing 6 days at Papillote celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. It was better than we expected! It was difficult to leave. The accomodations are in a rainforest with beautiful gardens all around. The rooms are simple but charming. We had the opportunity to stay in two different rooms and both were nicely... more
