Cannot say enough about this place. Truly a piece of heaven on earth. You become totally absorbed in the natural beauty around you. Huge tree ferns, hummingbirds, waterfalls, hot mineral baths, orchids, flowers of every color and scent, coco trees, cool mountain breezes. Excellent meals, wonderful local staff, clean nicely arranged rooms. It was very hard to leave this hotel.... more

We just returned from Dominica after spending a relaxing 6 days at Papillote celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. It was better than we expected! It was difficult to leave. The accomodations are in a rainforest with beautiful gardens all around. The rooms are simple but charming. We had the opportunity to stay in two different rooms and both were nicely... more

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, serene, delicious vacation spot. We stayed in the Breadfruit Suite, which was a huge 3-room suite with wood slat blinds, volcanic spring fed shower, and a hot pool right below our room for our enjoyment. The grounds were a botanical dream of short trails through lush rainforest, hot and cool natural pools,... more

The four or five acres of this rainforest lodge encompass what may be the MOST beautiful tropical botanical gardens in the world. The sloping hillside gardens feature a 90-foot waterfall, dozens and dozens of tall tree ferns, cacao trees (chocolate), bromeliads, hot volcanic springs and streams 9and warm geothermal pools for soaking, cool mountain streams with a second, stunning, two-tiered... more

Our stay was satisfactory. The main thing to realize is that Papillote may "drop the ball" with arrangements. Enjoyment and safety should be a higher priority at Papillote. Papillote arranged our transportation from the airport and what we got was a “3-hour milk run” bus. If you are not ready for a tour of the island, then make your own... more

If relaxation is what you seek, whether that means sitting in a rainforest garden watching the birds or hiking to hot springs and waterfalls, Papillote is the place to be. Our third stay there was, as always, a treat. The management and staff are very friendly and accomodating, the rooms are airy and comfortable, the food is wonderful, and the... more

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in January 2006. It is a quiet, nice place to relax. There are three beautiful waterfalls within a short walking distance, and it is educational to see a rainforest in action. The three hot springs on the property are clean and a comfortable temperature and close to the rooms. The food... more

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel in mid-August. We took a chance since reading prior reviews had us scared of hydro noise, bugs, concrete, and nasty people. I would like to say that this hotel and this Island infact were amazing. Never before have I seen such interesting things, I recommend the botanical tour....you will learn that most... more

The retreat is in the rainforest, with a beautifuly manicured garden surrounding mineral plunge pools, which are very relaxing after a day of hiking or waterfall swimming. The hotel may not be near the beach, but it is just steps away from an enormous and beautiful waterfall that's fun to climb in. In general, I prefer to stay at hotels... more

My husband and I visited Dominica in June for an Eco experience and picked Papilotte for a couple of nights whilst we were in the South. Whilst the hotel is in an amazing location, set in a fabulous rainforest environment, it was a little disappointing in some aspects. For an eco style retreat, I was surprised at the amount of... more
