Just returned from two wonderful weeks having set off with trepidation after reading reviews. The Anchorage staff without exception were very helpful and friendly the hotel is scrupulously clean and comforable . Our room was a good size on the first floor overlooking the sea with very comfortable beds - while cotton sheets changed nearly every other day. Water was... more

Understandably... Dominica has only been a sovereing nation for 30 years... and pretty much a 3rd world country. The Island is beautiful with very friendly people and lush tropical surroundings. I will give the hotel the benefit of the doubt that hurrican Omar did some pretty good damage to the pier and lower level rooms. I guess I just expected... more

Just got back from Dominica. Went there to dive. Stayed at the Anchoage Hotel. If you are looking for a fine hotel with lots of amenities, don't stay here. It was fine for us...clean, friendly, but not the Ritz. That would be downtown in Roseau, at The Fort Young Hotel, which also has a dive center. The Anchorage was a... more

The dive operation was decent. Some of their equipment looked old but I brought my own. There were only a few people on the dive trips which was nice. The Whale Watching trip was also good. The hotel rooms were average. I've seen better, I've seen worse. It is on the ocean and that was nice. The pool was OK... more

We should have switched hotels after the first night when we got there and the room with a balcony we had reserved was taken by the extremely rowdy large group they had in for the weekend. This group partied around the clock with loud music and shouting and we had to contact the front desk several times to get them... more

I was the planner for a 5 guy 5 day diving trip in Dominica. Our only mistake was choosing the Anchorage. Dominica was great. From the start things went wrong. When booking, they neglected to tell us that the restaurant was closed for renovations -- which forced us to go out for lunch after diving each day. The diving operation... more

I've stayed here on three occasions. We went there to dive and the dive operation is outstanding. The location is excellent for diving at the south end of the island. House reef is very nice. The rooms are simple and clean. The food good, but certainly not gormet. Service, particularly the front desk, could stand some improvement. Service was a... more

I wanted a dive package in Dominica. I found 4 hotels in the Roseau area that provided dive packages, the Fort Young, Castle Comfort, Anchorage and Evergreen. I eliminated the Fort Young because it was away from the dive center of the island, which appears to be the Dive Dominca dive shop on the Castle Comfort property. I eventually booked... more

The Anchorage was our mid-holiday Roseau stay, in between 3 Rivers eco-lodge and Crescent Moon Cabins. Our thinking was find a non-too expensive hotel from where we could go to the Creole Festival as well as see some of the southern part of the island. The 'superior' rooms were spacious, but pretty ugly. dark brown floor tiles, a crude bathroom... more

Overall I was pretty impressed with my stay at Anchorage. I went with a group of divers, and the accommadations were more or less perfect for divers. All of us had ocean front views from our balconies. Anchorage had some very nice dive boats, especially The Passion, a huge sailing catamaran where we enjoyed the ride to the dive site... more
