There are no big chain hotels on Dominica. Everything is relaxed. Stayed at the Anchorage 3/13. I'd describe it as rustic but adequate. Excellent friendly staff. Plain rooms, just a bar of soap in the spacious bathroom, but very reasonably priced. Got a room for three days and a free two tank scuba dive for $242 total. Ask for room... More

I booked to take a whale watching trip. When I arrived the trip had been cancelled. I wasted time and taxi fare getting to/from the hotel. There was no explanation why the trip had been cancelled. No apology. They had not bothered to contact me to notify me of the cancellation, despite having both my email and mobile contacts.

This hotel on first appearances blends in with the other tired properties along this stretch of road at Castle Comfort a mile and half south of Roseau town where we had arrived from Martinique on the Express des Iles ferry. We quickly picked up a taxi and in 10 minutes where at the hotel. Once past the entrance it opened... More

We did not stay at the Anchorage, so this review is based only on our whale watching experience. Captain Philbert gave us a review of the species of whales that we might encounter, including dolphins. He explained their anatomy, physiology, diet, migration habits, etc. He explained that there is an 80-90 % chance of sighting but that the morning excursion... More

This was a diving and hiking vacation. The hotel amenities aren't special, but Dominica isn't known for its plush hotels. The bed was very comfortable, with good sheets and pillows, and a well-functioning A/C. Nice balcony, with the right kind of surf to hide any traffic noise. Location isn't awesome (a little too far to walk into town), but if... More

What I learned from this experience is to double check everything when in Dominica. :-) We attempted to book our whale watching through the Calibishie Lodges but were told we needed to book a few days ahead in order to get a reservation... we were too late for the trip we wanted. However, I emailed the Anchorage myself and was... More

What an amazingly welcoming and comfortable place. Staff is wonderful. Diving is great and very unique. Terrific dive boat. I could not have imagined a better experience. The dive staff, Alicia, Michael, Ash and the super competent Captain:) were delightful. I have to say that this dive operation ranks number 1 on my list after 28 years of diving. Rooms... More

We choose this hotel due to its convenience for diving, but even that is questionable. The hotel is very simple and basic and the room has a descent size. No amenities at all, so most of the people had to go out to buy shampoo and soap, as the one provided was the worst! The shower was a challenge! We... More

My daughter (who now lives on Dominica) arranged this wonderful afternoon for my 60th birthday. What a fantastic never-to-be-forgotten experience !! The catamaran was expertly staffed. The guys really knew their stuff and readied us to take photos when they anticipated the whales' diving ("fluking" they called it) Didn't stay at the hotel but looked very clean and a good... More

This "Resort" has just enough amenities to make it so but it really is a Dive Center. It has an amazing waterfront locale and some beautiful greenery, air conditioning in the rooms, a restaurant, pool and bar, and helpful staff to make your stay comfortable. By North American standards, the rooms are motel-ish with simple tile floors, limited furnishings, plastic... More
