GET ONE OF THE OCEANVIEW ROOMS! The rooms are stunning: spa-quality upgrades in the bathroom, large rooms, UNBELIEVABLE private balcony with 12 hours of uninterrupted sun. Watch the sunset, sunbathe in the nude--it's just you, the ocean and the horizon! The food at the hotel is pretty good and the bar is a nice place to spend an evening enjoying... more
Just got back from 6 nights at Fort Young. Stayed there because I took my 23-year-old daughter and friends said to stay at Fort Young because it was in town and near the action. We went to Dominica to dive and hike the rain forest. If I had it to do again I would have stay at Castle Comfort in... more
Enjoyed our stay very much, as we were staying three nights we got an upgraded room looking out to see. The room was very comfortable and one of the best we stayed in. Cruise ships came in most days, they arrived in the morning and left in the evening and added to the hubbub of Roseau during the day. In... more
We spent three nights at the Fort young Hotel before Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is convienient for exploring the town. Rooms are nice but avoid the ones just above the Ocean side dining room if they have a band. Abit noisy but nice rooms. The last two nights we upgraded to an Oceanside room which was absolutely incredible.... more
Our first trip to Dominica included a two night stay in the capital of Roseau at the Fort Young Hotel. The accommodations are nice and it is built into an old English fort. There is a newer addition that has rooms that are a little nicer, but the rooms in the older section are sufficient. With television and air conditioning... more
Possible it's not quite as nice in the old rooms further from the shore (see other reviews below), but life is great in the big waterfront rooms, and they don't cost very much more. The staff were friendly, outgoing and helpful, top to bottom. Their advice about restaurants and activities was good, and they all seemed genuinely concerned that we... more
The hotel was lovely and a greatly needed vacation from the North part of the island, Portsmouth (where it is like camping). The view was beautiful and the dwellings were nice. It was like a nicely located Holiday Inn. The bed spreads looked like a motel 6, the room upstairs was leaking through our ceiling, and the walls were paper... more
I have to say, my husband and I have just returned from spending best two weeks of our lives at the Fort Young Hotel in Dominica. We decided that we wanted to visit this year and googled the island for hotels. It didn’t take us long to decide on The Forty Young Hotel, restored from a historical fort and centered... more
We (a couple from Germany) had planned to stay at fort young from 16 til 26 May, because the funny experiences we left the hotel 2 days earlier. Let us talk about the things which are normal in the hotel and for the front desk staff: Our arriving day was a Friday. On Fridays it is normal that the fort... more
