Very great experience and incredible hospitality, talk to the manager Ian he is very accommodating and resourceful. The hotel is only a couple blocks away from the main Conde street where everything you need is located, and also on that street less than 10min away is Jumbo a great supermarket for souvenirs at a fraction of the cost of some... Working for an NGO in Haiti, I stay in Santo Domingo regularly on my way in and out of Haiti to the US. I have stayed in several hostals and hotels in SD and DR. The Colonial Zone is the most interesting part of this large city. It has all the history and a comfortable, neighborhood feeling. Within the Colonial... More

Travelled with a girlfriend to DR and stayed for a week in SD on either side of the 2 month long trip. Ian (Canadian) and his wife Raquel run the hotel and are nice and easy. She does the cleaning. With some help from Raul, who is the security guard, overnight , who was very sweet and a gentleman. This... More

The first thing I noticed upon entering the tiny lobby was the haze of cigarette smoke and the stink of overflowing ashtrays. When I stayed there previously, I believe there was a no smoking policy. When I flicked on the bathroom light, roaches ran. The corner has gotten even worse, if possible, and I was followed by people asking for... More

During a two year stint working in Haiti I had to leave the country fairly regularly to renew my visa. On most of those visa runs, I opted to simply jump the border and spend a few days in the Dominican. Any time I was in Santo Domingo, this was my go to spot. Why? First, it's really affordable. The... More

The reviewer who complained about flies and disgusting rooms must be a nut case. That person showed their real self by their miserable, awful review. They could have just declined to stay, but no - they are so depressed and miserable in their own life they wanted to destroy this little business. And the other reviewer, who says Americans expect... First off, this hostel was $25 a night in a prime area in Zona Colonial so I have no idea what people expect to get for this price. We liked it and it was a great place to sleep. The building is secure and manned 24hrs a day. Yes they have a lock on the door…like every other place within... More

Are you kidding me, the people leaving positive reviews must be from the ghetto themselves to find this hotel to there liking. I wouldn't let a dog of the streets into this hotel. I arrived in the morning to still find the complimentary breakfast on the front desk with flies all over the place; and the food on the counter... More

This is by no means a fancy hotel. Great location in the Colonial Zone. Staff is exceptionally friendly and willing to help and guide you to the best spots. The breakfast wasn't much... but it got us through to lunch. Very homey vibe...It was like visiting a friend. I felt it was a little overpriced. Our room was clean and... More

I am a long time supporter of FCH, having come down here for 5 or 6 years, up to four months a year on and off at the hotel. I appreciate this place and they appreciate me. Everyone is friendly and helpful and I feel safe. That is what is most important to me. What else? The 24 hour security... More
