We travel to the D.R. often and stay at La Catalina most times. The cuisine is terrific, and the accommodations clean, simple and quaint. The ocean views are stunning. The banana bread and fresh peanut butter is not to be missed at breakfast. Be sure to ask for A/C if you need it, as all rooms do not come with.... more

My husband and I went to the Dominican Republic for our first anniversay and had a wonderful week long stay at La Catalina! The staff was fantastic and gave us superb recommendations in regards to traveling around the area during our trip. The hotel was lovely and the restaurant served some of the best locally-inspired food that we had. The... more

We have been staying at La Catalina for over 8 years. Incredibly warm, friendly and truly wonderful staff. It is the PERFECT location if golf at Playa Grande is your destination. Beautiful beaches nearby. Very low-key. Modest accomodations, yet clean. Superb breakfasts. Best meals in town. Inexpensive...in fact, really a great value. Heavenly views. Not for those who prefer all-inclusives. more

The view is beautiful. I could see a panaramic view of the ocean from the room. There are wonderful swimming pools on the property as well. The restuarant was the best during our travels in the Dominican Republic. more

I have just returned from a relaxing week (March 15-22, 2008) at La Catalina. From the moment of arrival I realized that Tim, the owner, had something very special here. I have had the chance to travel to a few different islands and have stayed in a number of larger, all-inclusive type hotels but I can honestly say that I... more

My wife and I went for our 15th anniversary. We had never been to DR before this trip and were quite nervous on the 90 minute ride from the Puerta Plata airport. This small hotel is located a mile or so from the water but high on a hill with a great view. It was developed in a nice enclave... more

Hotel La Catalina and Playa Grande are the perfect match for the traveling golfer. Playa Grande is often referred to as the Pebble Beach of the Dominican Republic with 12 of its 18 holes on water. All of the holes will test your mettle, especially the picturesque carry on the par 5 number 12. Hotel La Catalina’s comfortable and charming... more

La Catalina is a peaceful and tranquil setting on a mountain side with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Our room was tropically decorated with a private balcony, it was great. The restaurant was excellent and the music at the bar was vibrant. Try this place for a memorable vacation. more

We just returned from Hotel La Catalina hidden in the hills above Cabrera, Dominican Republic. What a wonderful experience! This is a small, private, elegant hostel with tremendous views of the quaint town of Cabrera below and the ocean beyond. The exceptional gardens surrounding the hotel and pool create a very serene, private enviroment. The room was spotlessly clean with... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Catalina and wished we could have stayed much longer. The food was superb, the accomodations comfortable and roomy, and the owners of the hotel were welcoming and personable. It's great for a romantic vacation away from the kids. We also enjoyed the nearby Playa Grande Golf Course, and the lovely nearby beaches. more
