Split our stay between the Paradisus Punta Cana and the Riu Palace Punta Cana (see review) which are in contrast rather than in accord as properties. Much depends on what you seek for your vacation. The resort was one of the best that we have ever stayed (and we travel often) The positives: 11 restaurants (only about 5 open each night cause it was off season) NO RESERVATIONS NEEDED!!!...plus we could go everynight. Overall, very good experience at paradisus punta cana. Luckily returned the day of a big rainstorm so missed the flooding as per prev poster. Food at buffets was average, the a la carte restaurants were very good though except I wouldn't recommend the japanese as it wasn't good at all, rice tasted funny and presentation was off, sushi wasn't good. While the Paradisus Punta Cana is visually beautiful, the staff, service, amenities and food were horrible. My husband and I spent our honeymoon at this location and we had a huge language barrier. We also encountered the worst rain and flooding in Punta Cana history. When the rain stopped, the hotel did nothing to remove the standing water from it's walk ways, making it impossible to get to the beach area. The food was terrible.... more

The paradisus punta cana is a very nice resort that has beautiful grounds that are very well maintained. The basic room is adequate, but certainly not exceptional. The towels are extra large. The bathtub has been repaired. The shower head does not have enough water pressure and you have to take an extra 10 minutes just to get the soap out of your head.
