First off I have to explain that I only ate at the restaurant of the Talbot Hotel, I did not stay in the hotel and so cannot really comment on what it was like to stay in. I went for a meal with my family at the Talbot Hotel on a Saturday Night in December and it was understandably busy due to the fact that the rugby international (Wales vs Australia) was on.
Food Quality
The main courses were fine apart from the fact that they were warm rather than hot. In addition, my girlfriend had cawl as a starter. A national dish of Wales, cawl is a stew-like dish consisting of meat and vegetables. Its ingredients tend to vary, but usually includes Welsh lamb and leeks. Cawl is translated as soup in modern day Welsh. However the cawl that my girlfriend received was extremely dry and had no soup-like qualities whatsoever - it was like dried vegetables with a small amount of meat.
