I intended to meet up with a friend of mine at the guesthouse. I had difficulty at the airport at JFK and left a day and a half later than I was expected to be there. I was handling all of the arrangements and so St. Joseph (Missy in particular) was very gracious in allowing my friend to stay until I arrived.
Their website (not updated) led me to believe that we would each have seperate rooms, which was not the case.
The dinners seem to be more vegetarian but delicious! They offer a generous breakfast.....not the usual American breakfast but close and enjoyable. Both meals included in price of room. I believe it was $50. a night for the room. I had to ask around a bit to locate the place (I rented a car) but they will provide a car to pick you up and take you back to the airport free of charge.
You must use buckets of water to bathe and there is no air conditioning....luckily it is at an elevation that is usually a bit cooler than closer to the ocean. It has a...

19 September 2007. I just returned from an 8 night stay in Haiti, spending 6 of those nights at the Hospice St. Joseph, in the Nazyon area in Port-au-Prince, at #33 Rue Acacia. They have a new Executive Director, Dr. Rosemary Edwards, who was in her first week on the job. Another new employee is the Social Director, Missy Owen. I was very impressed with both the cleanliness, service and food at the guest house. They have a good security force, about 6 men, who sit out by the iron gate playing dominoes and cards each day. Breakfast and Dinner were included in our nightly fee of $30. Breakfast included eggs, toast, jams, peanut butter (manba pimente!), bananas and cereal. Of course, the delicious Haitian coffee was also served. Towels, face clothes, and soap are provided in the rooms, as are ceiling and floor or table-top fans.
