Hotel's Favourite
This resort is great. While I wouldn’t put it at a 4.5 to 5 Star, it’s got something for everyone. Here is a breakdown of our stay. We travelled May 10-17. Firstly, I do want to recommend you book Club MoBay. It makes a huge difference bypassing lines for Customs, which was insane on both arrival and departure. We were through the lines within 10 minutes. The food is good too. Their beef patties are the best I had all week. CHECK IN: On arrival, there was a bit of a wait to check in. The welcome drink really helps. Our room was not ready yet, and they told us to come back after lunch. ROOM: When we finally got to our room about an hour later, they gave us one King bed (2 female friends travelling). The rooms are very dated, and in need of an upgrade. But they were clean, we called to see if we could switch to 2 beds, but no one was answering the front desk, so we just said forget it and decided to just go with it, not like we’re spending the entire stay in the room. The bathroom was big, and we had hot water all the time. The shower pressure was perfect. Room was cleaned every day and towels were stocked. I would suggest though, to bring a blanket as the room tends to get cold even with the AC off. We asked for an extra blanket, but got a thin sheet instead, or you could just wear warm pjs. BEACH: There are several beaches on property. The best one is by the snack bar/Children’s area. Nice powder sand, beautiful aqua water. There was lot of beach chairs. We went early and laid our towels and went for breakfast, which was what most people were doing. The other beaches are a bit rocky, but still beautiful, nonetheless. The nude beach is not the prettiest. It reminded me of a lake. Water sports is free, so we did kayak a few days. It was fun once you got the hang of it. POOL: The pool is massive. We always got great seats there. They have entertainment at the main section and while we stayed away from crowds for the most part, it was a riot listening/watching from a distance. The one thing I will say is that we were very impressed with the professionalism of the entertainment staff. There were a few guests being raunchy, and the MC got on the mic and asked for them to behave and be respectful as there were children and families around, so kudos to them! FOOD/DRINK: There is something for everyone. I do not understand why people complain. The buffet and snack bar has everything, and they are not repetitive at all. There is a variety of Jamaican food. Their Saturday night theme is Jamaican and man, did we feast on oxtail and curry goat. They NEVER ran out of food no matter what time you went. People, if you’re going to complain about food options, either bring your own, or better yet, don’t go! So sick of reading reviews about food quality and quantity. We did book 3 A la Carte’s. We went to Dolce Vita, The Knife and Rodizio (on Luxury Side). Our favourite by far was Dolce Vita. The pasta was amazing!!! The Knife was good too. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The Rodizio could’ve been great, but we had late reservations. The earliest we could get was 930pm. By that point, they started putting things away and the servers barely came to our table. What we did try was tasty, but we were so annoyed at the level of service, we left and went to the buffet. Just a suggestion, but if you’re going to allow such late reservations, make sure service and food is not lacking. The drinks are amazing and wowza, they do not skimp on the alcohol. We were very very happy ladies! Also, if you enjoy lobster, there is a boat that comes with a Canadian Flag. Well worth the $30 USD ENTERTAINMENT: We didn’t really see many of the shows. The fire show at the beach was fun. We mostly sat at the lobby bar after dinner where they had a band playing and they were fantastic. The beach party was by far the most fun. Nothing like dancing under the moon and stars. The Disco is fun too. It’s spacious enough so you’re not all up someone’s space (which is what I prefer in these “times”). I see many reviews shouting out certain staff members. I am not going to do that. I want to give every single person that works there the highest praise possible. We never saw anyone being rude or disrespectful towards anyone. It was a hello or other greeting every single time. I am disgusted at reading reviews that say they’re rude to white people, black people, purple people etc. This is simply not the case. I wouldn’t believe it for a second. If anything, from what we witnessed, it was the tourists/guests that were rude, and ignorant. Just because you leave your country for a vacation, doesn’t mean you leave your manners at home either. A little respect goes a long way. Thanks for the great time Bahia Grand Jamaica!!!

Fantastic holidays in Bahia principe grand Jamaica. Our first visit to this country and we loved it. The hotel is 40 min from Montego Bay airport. We arrived at the hotel welcomed us with a Welcome drink. We arrived at the room and the feeling that the rooms were towed a short time smells new. The hotel has 5 restaurants and all have the wonderful food. The recreation staff is fantastic and fun. We loved our family vacation. Thank Bahia principe

Our first time at Jamaica and it was a pretty positive experience. New and clean rooms. The food in the restaurant is very good ( beware of the spicy) lol The staff of entretainmant and fantastic and has many activities. We quite liked one that was with slide to the pool and had DJ and the kitchen served lobster. The staff of bars with drinks throughout the pool, was quite pleasant our stay at the hotel. Stayed here for a week with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. The hotel made it so special with a birthday banner on the door and chocolates and champagne in the room. Room was cleaned every day and was spacious, 2 four poster beds and a lounge area. The complex is one of the largest we’ve ever stayed in. Good choice of food at the 2 buffet restaurants with live cooking stations. Each week you stay, you can visit one of the many a la carte restaurants up to 3 times. We tried the Japanese and Brazilian grill. Both excellent for service and food. The grounds are well maintained and staff friendly and courteous. There was plenty of entertainment throughout the day and night which we enjoyed although I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea to hear music blaring out. My only negative comments are that food was not very hot from the buffet but I appreciate it’s difficult to keep so many dishes hot over a long service. Food is available 24/7 here! Also the maid would remove our wet towels but not always replace them. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely try other locations in the group. The staff at this Bahia Principe are a credit to the group. Thank you all. X

Unfortunately the resort did not live up to reviews. Multiple room moves due to leaks. Haphazard cleaning and stocking of rooms, not to mention multiple power failures. The staff we interacted with were excellent. They did their very best to assist us with what they had available.

I did not want to share this on TripAdvisor, but we have to speak about our experience after not hearing back from anyone from the resort for months after I shared our feedback directly on the resort's survey we received in our email after our stay. My husband I travel to Jamaica every year, we love Jamaica. We were very disappointed and had a very bad experience at Bahia. We have stayed at a Bahia Principe property in the Dominican Republic with no problems. We had heard so much about how nice this resort was, so we decided to stay here for my husband's birthday with our son. Our room had a great pool/ocean view, but we were given an old room that needed renovation. Our AC unit was not working, room stayed warm, we notified staff, so they sent maintenance to fix it. Then we had an issue with our toilet, it would not flush properly. I notified front desk 3 times by the end of the night, they said they would send maintenance to check, but no one came. No repair was made next day. The next morning, I had to go downstairs in the main lobby to use the bathroom since our toilet was not working. I let front desk personnel know that no one has come to fix our toilet, was told again that they would send someone. Next day we left our room for breakfast and take our 3 year old son to the great kids water park area they have. We we returned to our room after lunch, we saw staff outside our door, maintenance was using a machine to get the water out of our flooded room. We find out that our toilet flooded our room. We had shoes and some clothing items that were were soaked in toilet water. They took all our soaked items and cleaned what could be cleaned with laundry service, but we had to throw away a few of our shoes that could not be cleaned. I am a medical provider who works in healthcare, I was not going to keep toilet water soaked items. They immediately moved us to another old room that needed renovation as well, but replaced the old toilet with a new toilet in the room they moved us to. I feel like if there was a sense of urgency with our concern regarding our toilet, if they had took our complaint seriously and fixed our toilet immediately, our room would not have flooded. This spoiled our 1st family vacation with our 3 year-old son and my husband's birthday, so the next day we decided to check out of Bahia. We went to spend the rest of our vacation at Royalton White Sands in Trelawny, newer resort with modern rooms before returning home. We like and enjoy staying in different parts of the island at different properties, because there is so much of Jamaica to see and explore. The food is great, the remainder of property is very nice, love the fitness center, our son loved the water park. We would definitely consider giving this Bahia property another try, but not until every single room on the property has been renovated, because we do not want to chance getting an old room when we decide to give this resort another try. We hope to hear from someone regarding our experience.

This is an excellent resort (not quite 5 star but definitely 4 star). We were here last year and the resort has improved since then. The food was excellent with a very good selection that should accommodate anyone. This is a very large resort with some 900 rooms so it is hard to keep everything up to date but they do a very good job. The grounds are immaculate and the large pools are kept pristine. The staff are very pleasant and will gladly help you with any problems or concerns. The only negative is the hour and a half bus ride from the airport to the resort. I would recommend this resort to all walks of life (young/old, single/married, families and couples). Weather was absolutely gorgeous while we were there. I could go into greater detail but I think these comments paint a good overall picture of the resort.
