I arrived in San Juan April 15th with no place to stay, and found the El Canarion Inn on Av. Ashford. The receptionist seemed completely uninterested in human contact, I had to ask questions twice to get a response. The room was small and basic, but OK. There is no internet available at this hotel - I write this review... more

The cons far outweigh the pros on this place! We arrived at this hotel exhausted after six and half hours of riding a ferry, several city buses and several gua-guas. This hotel has no elevator and the one front desk employee we saw didn’t offer to help with our luggage, nor did he offer to find someone to help us.... more

I can see no reason to go to this hotel. We paid $140 for a one night stay. The air conditioner in the room did not work, and the floor was so dirty that I had to throw away the socks I wore. They would not come clean. We went to the desk to report that our air conditioner did... more

We stayed here for two nights after a flight from Dominica. We have no complaints but this is definitely a very bare bones hotel. The bathroom is tiny - literally cannot accommodate two comfortably but if you don't plan to spend the day in the room it really isnt a problem. The bed was adequate and the room had a... more

I had booked this hotel for three nights almost a month before arrival--confirmed online. By the way, the hotel has a four-day window prior to arrival for cancellation without penalty. I arrived as agreed only to be told by the desk clerk "Luis" he was sorry, but they were overbooked and had no rooms. His alternative solution was that the... more

Based on reviews I had read about this hotel, I wasn't too sure what to think of it. When I got there, it was amazing. The hotel/inn is really nice, a bit small, but nice overall. It has a home-y atmosphere. The rooms are a little small, but unless you plan to be spending a lot of time at the... more

This was a nice location in Condado. We arrived late and stayed one more day just to visit Old San Juan. The hotel inself is fine. you should be aware of a few things. There is no elevator, but it is only about three stories. There is no parking lot. Park on the street (I got lucky!) or in a... more

Think twice about staying here, at least for the next six months or so. Right next store to the property (less than 1 meter away) a major construction project is underway, a new high-rise. The noise is deafening, complete with jackhammers, screaming saws, and heavy truck traffic. And it all starts at 6:30 a.m., so don't count on sleeping in.... more

There is construction next door between El Canario Inn and the San Juan Marriott. Crews work from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Area hotels and business owners have been advised construction will be completed by May 2007. El Canario by the Sea, located on the other side of the Marriott, is not being affected by this noise....

I stayed at El Canario Inn for one night. It's location is excellent if you are going to San Juan for shopping, business or travelling around. El Condado is very safe, and is very easy to get to Old San Juan, the beach or any of the shopping malls in the city. The place is too basic, rooms are small,... more
