Like staying at a bed and breakfast (without the breakfast) you get to know the proprietors, they are very professional and helpful. Contact them in advance and it is like having a tour company. They have beach accessories available, so you don't have to travel with everything. The rooms are small, but the hospitality is warming. more

I recommend a day or two touring Old San Juan and then some quality beach time in Vieques. Casa de Amistad is conviently located within walking distance of the ferry dock as well as numerous authentic restaurants, local joints and other cool places to hang out with your travel companions. Just returned an hour ago! from Puerto Rico...the last three nights spent at this amazing guesthouse in Vieques. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, but not intrusive at all.
