Perched high on a hill, with magnificent views to the North and South, and, of course, Westward over the water, Gingerbread Hill has the absolute best location on the island. We arrived in the evening at sunset and when we opened the door to the Heavenly Suite what I saw before me took my breath away! You feel as though... more

We stayed in the Heavenly Suite and it was just that. The suite is clean, beautifully decorated and has a fabulous view....We ate dinner on the veranda each night, just to enjoy the sunset over the ocean. The People's Place (good food!) is walking distance from Gingerbread Hill and has terrific food. We ate lunch there on two occasions and... more

I have strong mixed feelings about this place. The structure is lovely and I enjoyed the indoor/outdoor main room and found the bedrooms to be comfortable (although the carpet is in serious need of removal). The hot water, however, is at best just warm, making for a less than relaxing shower. The views are spectacular and one can truly feel... more

This is truly something remarkable. The rooms are tastefully designed, neat, and clean. You couldn't ask for better hosts. David and Clover Lea will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and possess a wealth of experience about Montserrat. If you are looking for something off-the-beaten path that soothes and relaxes, this is the place. Highly recommended. more

We were on our first trip to the Caribbean. We spent a week in an all inclusive in Antigua and then jumped over to Montserrat. I wanted to feel a little native non-touristy caribbean. Montserrat is IT. David and Cover run the Gingerbread Hill. They are great people. If you wondered what happened to the the '60s people, these are... more

This place is fantastic, from the views, the lack of bugs, the incredible hikes and beaches within fair walking distance, to the impromptu island tours offered by David and Clover, as well as a wealth of info offered about the Soufriere Hills volcano. Well-put-together, this place offered what most boutique hotels DREAM of offering. Homey, stylish, well-priced, friendly. Go at... more

Wanting to visit the Caribbean for the first time and to get away from the States for a time of reflection, I searched the Internet for weeks for just the right place. Late one evening, after I had clicked nearly every link to every island, I noticed a few not yet visited. Montserrat. Gingerbread Hill. The price. It was exactly... more

Gingerbread Hill and its proprietors may not need more effusive praise, but I will provide some nevertheless. First, Montserrat: a dizzy plane ride from flat, overdeveloped Antigua to a vertiginously green, lush place only a few minutes away. Winding roads, tiny shops, green, green forests, mysterious mountains, hidden beaches, and one very big volcano (off-limits!) There are no big hotels (anymore),... more

Firstly, thanks to Sunny for a terrific tour. Mike and I (Mark) thank you for taking us to some incredible places. Gingerbread Hill is a brilliant place to stay. Don't worry about not having A/C (as I was) as the wind and high location make it cool and comfortable. The place is lovely. The views are incredible. My cousin and... more

My wife and I visited Montserrat during the New Year’s holiday. We found the island and its people to be very welcoming, and this friendliness was reflected in our stay at Gingerbread Hill and its hosts, David and Clover Lea. Montserrat as a destination is an adventure and not for those who simply wish to sit around and be catered... more
