I had been very concerned to read the recent negative reports about this Hotel but it would seem that a recent change of management has had a welcome beneficial effect. Certainly, we were very pleased with our room - one of the Owner's Suites - this was a good sized bedroom with a larger than average balcony and a refreshing... more

Having read recent reviews I was worried about going to the Bel Jou. However, there is now a new manager, Larry Jackson, who is very much in evidence and the whole ambience of the hotel has changed. All the staff seem happy in there work and provide an excellent service. The food is good and plentiful. While it is true... more

A friend of mine went to Bel Jou last Summer and could not praise the Management and staff enough saying it was the most friendly hotel she had every stayed in. Absolutely raved about it so much so that I thought I have to go. Well I must have stayed in a different hotel. The previous Manager Caroline and her... more

This hotel was taken over by Saga last year and was supposed to have been refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms were very sub standard as was the food. One guest who visited last year said food was originally very good, but since new managers took over the food budget had been drastically cut. Staff were friendly and... more

Management response from

All the rooms are to undergo further refurbishment this summer and we are going to create twelve more garden rooms with their own terraces and to add further solar heating panels to effectively increase the hotel green credentials. The management of the hotel has changed and training for staff increased to enhance the service levels at the property, the complimentary...

We expected a bright colourful hotel, this is the Caribbean after all, but we found much of it dull. Our room had battleship grey on one wall and the furniture throughout was dark brown, even around the pool area which was cramped. Extra seating was available in the garden but it rained a lot while we were there and it... more

Great holiday best food ever tasted on holiday. Staff very attentive and cheerful. Amazing view from bedroom. loved the new refurbishment and the rum punch by the pool and cocktailsSteve and Carolyn great hosts. Would have liked access more readily to beach than by bus and pack insect repellant in rainy season. more
