We would like to start off by saying that this is the poorest excuse for a "resort" that we have ever witnessed. We had traded the week of our lovely 5 star timeshare in Cancun Mexico in order to stay here and it was a complete waste. First off, the overall smell of the resort was disgusting, which says a... more
My family and I booked at stay at the Royal Islander by exchanging our timeshare. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean. We had read all the reviews regarding the airplane noise, but it was not bad at all. We enjoyed seeing the planes come in and it was very cool. We were only able to get... more
Very nice and clean. Centrally located to just about everything, and the beach is right out your door. Despite being close to the airport (hey, you get to the beach all the sooner) you barely hear the planes, and they are awesomr to watch landing. Take off and landings at night are minimal. My wife and I liked it so... more
So here it is… after all the research I did prior to my trip- I still felt unprepared… and the staff at the RIC la plage was not helpful with many of our questions. About the hotel: My family and I (2 adults/2 kids - 8 and 13) stayed during the week of 4/21st for 6 nights in a 1... more
The Maho district or area is on the Dutch side of the island. We found the local people and resort staff to be friendly and courteous if you treat them the same way. But those accustomed to instant action need to slow down a little and enjoy the slower pace of the island. Royal Islander La Plage is located on... more

We stayed in a two bedroom suite with two full baths and a full kitchen and living room. Our living room and the master bedroom overlooked the pool... more
Just returned from1 week at the Royal Islander - wish it had been two. It is a simple 5 minute trip from with airport - and yes you do see planes through the day but it really didn't bother us - was fun in a way. We had a 1 bedroom that was comfortable and roomy. Maid service after 3... more
If you plan to spend your days on the beach and your nights at the bar/club, then this is a great resort. If you want to relax in your room and get a good night's sleep, go somewhere else. We would not have chosen this resort if we had known how loud and uncomfortable the hotel was. All bedrooms are... more
Stayed on the top floor of the hotel. View was fabulous. Really enjoyed watching the planes come in. The air traffic can get annoying after a bit and it's very very loud! Room was huge (some wasted space) and, for the most part, was very clean. Didn't have much interaction with the staff. Furniture was very uncomfortable and the beds... more
