After reading some of the online reviews for the Maracas Bay Hotel, I started to regret reserving a room at the hotel as a one-night beach getaway prior to a business meeting in Port of Spain. I stayed there for Carnival 2006 and was disappointed. It was not worth the price. The room had a musty smell and was a bit run down and there was no television or refrigerator in it. For some reason we did not have restful sleep there. more

Wow what a hotel!! I can not believe that they are charging people to stay here. First off don't bother taking a shower here you will definitely need to be cleaned again since the bathtub pushes out other persons dirt from thier last shower ewww. My husband and I are here for 3 months and we stayed the first 3 weeks at hilton we went there as a break before moving to Kapok hotel. We loved every minute of our stay. I didn;t know what to expect when I arrived but I was pleasantly surprised. The beach is beautiful and the hotel was perfectly nice. It isn't Raffles but the staff were extremely attentive and the room was clean with a wonderful view.
