We had heard wonderful things about Asa Wright from friends and had wanted to go here for years. If anything, it exceeded our expectations. We spent six days here, and hated to leave. Keep in mind that this is first and foremost a nature reserve with a mission. Birding is spectacular, whether from the broad veranda of the lodge that... More

I had heard a lot about this lodge and it really was what I was expecting. The outlook is superb with a wide variety of birds attracted to the feeding tables and over the rain forest, take a guided walk and you will be amazed at the amount of birds that you will see. The lodge is not luxurious but... More

Look, you're going to a nature centre and lodge. You're not going to a five-star luxury hotel. And as a nature centre and lodge, Asa Wright is AMAZING. My mom won a trip that included three nights at AWNC, and I was frightened by the reviews here. I'm a picky eater, so the idea of family-style meals was frightening. Guess... More

A must for anyone visiting Trinidad and absolutely essential for anyone keen to see more of Trinidads birds and tropical forests. Good guided walks through the former plantation and if you stay the night you will get a night hike to see various nocturnal insects and animals. The rooms are very basic and ours came with a couple of unwanted... More

Asa Wright is one of those places all travelling birders hope to visit - with a focus on feeding birds on the verandah throughout the day and rare bird species resident in the grounds. And it lived up to that reputation, although the structure is now fading and would probably not be up to the standards required by many non-birding... More

If you're expecting a luxury 5-star resort, with deluxe appointments, gourmet dining, and spa treatments, you're going to be disappointed. On the other hand, if you're looking for an "eco-camp" atmosphere with simple and charming accommodations, and with amazing grounds and wildlife, this is for you. The center is a converted Victorian plantation, although you'll have to look to find... More

Asa Wright is incredible spot for the birds and while the main lodge is gorgeous it is quite over-priced and over-staffed. The hotel staff were marginally friendly with the exception of the guides who were wonderful - informative, enthusiastic and happy to assit ensure you understood what incredible place this really is. Also beware of that the hotel practices some... More

The Reviews of the Asa Wright Centre are mixed but it all depends on what you are looking for. The accommodation, meals and facilities may not be 5* but the location, ambience and wildlife are. We were lucky to be there in "low" season when it was not too busy. The feel of an old colonial residence was enhanced by... More

We stayed here for one night to do some bird watching. We stayed in the low season and paid USD250 for the two of us. Honestly I would have expected some more for this price. Yes the food is included (three meals a day) but was mediocre at best. Rooms are very basic. Also included was a tour of approx... More

We love birds and wildlife and wanted somewhere special for Christmas. Having read descriptions of Asa Wright it sounded perfect. We were promised "delicious meals, fine wine list, comfortable cottage with private veranda in gardens, wonderful veranda with hummingbird feeders in main house, peace, tranquility, natural pool for swimming. It sounded blissful and romantic and though incredibly expensive we thought... More
