Upon arriving at the guesthouse we were cheerfully greeted by Carissa (manager) and Joanne (hostess and chef) we immediately felt at home. The room was very clean and spacious, the food delicious, the service second to none. The guest house is located in a beautiful country setting, a lot of greenery interspersed with beautiful houses, approximately 10 minutes drive from downtown Port of Spain. At a cost of $40US/day/person we had 2 meals/day very nicely prepared and served. The guesthouse is under esthetic upgrades when completed it will be able to compete with any 5 star hotel..It is a perfect home away from home, very secure. We liked the fact that we did not have to give a credit card number or even a down payment before we got there, we paid cash at checkout time.

We certainly plan to stay at Shalom Guesthouse whenever we visit Trinidad again and we plan to take our family with us. more
