I would have to assume that when this resort was first built, that it must have been the jewel of the area. However, failure to upkeep the property is most likely the reason why they no longer have an affiliation with Wyndham (although Wyndham literature is still displayed, this resort IS NOT a Wyndham). Closet doors fell off due to stripped out screws. Other members of our party had ants crawling into their room from... More

The pools at Sugar Bay Resort were beautiful and well maintained. The beach area was also beautiful and clean. The view from our room was breathtaking and well worth the price. Our room on the 3rd floor was fine with a full bathroom and another sink and vanity outside the bathroom. We didn't take the all inclusive plan and the food in the main dining room Manor House was extremely expensive. The menu in the... More

I just returned from a wonderful stay at the Sugar Bay Resort in St. Thomas. My sister and I chose it because we want a carefree all inclusive vacation. We truly enjoyed our stay here. The grounds and views were fabulous. We booked the bay view room, but we were able to get an upgrade to a oceanview room. The views were breathtaking!!! We were very pleased with our accomodations. The hotel had low occupancy... More

If you go to St.Thomas stay away from this tourtist trap. The food is so bad that my girlfriend said to me "Please Don;t Make Me Eat There Again".The food was bad and so was the service, hotel made you think that they were going you a favor.I have traveled to many places in my life and this one takes the cake.I was there the week of 1/22/12 and it was cool and rained almost every day.In... First time to the St. Thomas. Hotel recommended by a colleague who stayed here years ago. Not what I expected from a resort. Poor quality "hotel food" and outdated rooms. Don't let the Wyndham name fool you. Beautiful pool and a good value, but don't do the all inclusive. More

Dear Outlier3 Thank you so much for staying at our resort recently and your review of our hotel. Sugar Bay Resort does not operate as a Wyndham Hotel. Wyndham ceased its operation here in July 2011. We are sorry that you did not like the food and that you felt the rooms were outdated. We are heartened by the fact that you felt that the pool was beautiful and overall it was a good value.... More

I have traveled throughout the US, the Carribean and Europe, and have stayed at moderate and expensive hotels & resorts. Having worked as a waitress, I am a patient and fair customer and I tip generously . So, with that said, let me say that Sugar Bay is not worth whatever they are charging these days. I knew, based on the rate, that it was not going to be posh, but it definitely was not... More

Dear lj_020202 Thank you for staying with us over the Christmas and New Year period and for your review of our resort. The week that you stayed, was an extremely difficult time for us as well as our many guests who experienced the failure of our air conditioning system. This impacted many of our guests in a very negative way for which we are truly sorry. The good news is that the air conditioning system... More

We have traveled to many resorts the end of January for the past 20 years and this was probably the least favorite of our vacations. Sugar Bay Resort is rated a 4 and we always go to a 5 or 6 rated hotel. The room was very nice and we were upgraded to an ocean view. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Food was pretty much the same for breakfast and dinner. Not a... More

Stayed there for a week...average rooms, but great view!! Overlooked the water between St Thomas and St Johns!! How bad can that be!! The room was, like some other people have said, a bit out dated. But..it was comfortable. The service staff was helpful, but just average..like just enough to get by! The food was average...and the dining areas were very clean. Think I am going to stay at the Ritz next visit to St... More

We stayed at Sugar Bay Resort in January 2012. The resort and rooms look a bit dated and are quite frankly going downhill. With few exceptions, the staff is extremely slow and unattentive, and I would add rude and argumentative. I've been to other resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico, and this was by far the worst. The food is completely uninspiring, bland and overpriced. The only bright spot was their Baci restaurant. There was... More

I spent last week at the Sugar Bay Resort in St. Thomas, V.I. the grounds are beautiful but the menu and staff have alot to be desired. Slow service to the point where I felt neglected. They do have one bright spot and her name is Heather Nettlemann. This lady would go out of her way to make you feel welcome. She never failed one time in seeing to our needs. very professional and accommodating.... More
