If you want to experience Island living, then this place is for you. It is not pretentious in any way. If you are expecting the Caneel Bay Resort...then go spend $350-$500 a night there. We just spent one night at the hotel, it was a nice, inexpensive alternative. We wanted to be close to the shops, restaurants and be able to walk in downtown Cruz Bay. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in St. John for the beaches and snorkeling and other outdoor adventures. It does not have the luxury interiors or immaculate landscaping of a Caneel or Westin, but it will cost you hundreds less which you can use to rent your jeep or eat at some of the many great restuarants.... more
