I hadn't been to St John in 7 yrs and in the past have rented private villas or stayed at the Westin; mostly with friends, colleagues or family members. I'd always rented a jeep to get around the island but the driving on St John can be challenging, so, I chose Caneel based on a friend's recommendation as she had... More

I’ve seen reviews on this site that compare Caneel Bay to fine hotels. I don’t think that this is the best comparison. I would compare it to the best National Park Hotels, such as the Ahwahnee in Yosemite. The prices are similar (off-season) and the motivations are also similar. Caneel Bay is more about the spectacular location then it is... More

The Caneel Bay resort vacation was exceptional. The staff was professional and friendly. The resort was very, comfortable and safe. It was a very pleasant stay for relaxing and enjoying the beaches; which were very clean. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation and enjoy the beach, hiking, Nature and quiet time to just relax and get away from... More

We stayed at Caneel Bay for four nights for our honeymoon and it's truly paradise. Having been to St. John before, I knew it was going to be beautiful but Caneel Bay exceeded our expectations. The beaches and grounds are truly spectactular. I love that this is such a natural place and isn't overbuilt or overcrowded. Even though the resort... More

If you have done any research before you go, you will know that Caneel does not have full marble bathrooms and all of the creature comforts that you will get at the Ritz or Four Seasons. That's not why you go to Caneel. It's all about the atmosphere. Is it rustic? Yes. But don't think that rustic means you are... More

We honeymooned at caneel 10 years ago. We decided To go back for anniversary. I was hesitant because I was scared it wasn't going to be as great as I remembered! Well guess what? It was better! I don't know that I will ever want o try a new place. My husband and I both truly can relax here. the... More

Stayed at Caneel with my three daughters for a fabulous three night stay and had an absolutely perfect time. We were just sad that we couldn't stay an entire week. From the private ferry service, luggage handled flawlessly, wonderful and friendly service from all the staff, I can't recommend highly enough. We had ocean view rooms on Hawksnest Bay, and... More

My husband and I returned from Caneel on May 10th after staying for a week. We have traveled to many, many different islands and resorts, but this is by far one of the best. The property itself is huge with 7 different beaches "on the resort". Getting to each beach is not a problem because there is a shuttle that... More

I find that the hardest part of how to understand a review is to understand who wrote it and what they consider important. So here goes. My wife and I are younger. We came with a 6 yr old girl but we normal travel alone or in groups with fun people that enjoy activities, sports, drinking, nightlife, reading, relaxing, a... More

Lot's of people complaining about the weather, guess what the hotels and resorts around the globe are NOT responsible for it. So we arrived during the rain. Check in at the airport. Taxi to the ferry, sorry to everybody who had to wait for us, you always do appriciate it when you are the one who is late versus and... More
