This was a great hotel. The locaton was perfection. Beautiful beach area, gorgeous water. The hotel had just had a multi-million dollar makeover and is gorgeous. The inside of the lobby areas look like a vegas hotel with the big fish tanks behind the check-in desk and trees and plants everywhere. Feels like your in the jungle or something...really cool.... more

Just returned from a 4 day stay at the Xanadu Beach Resort. The resort is still under construction from the hurricane they had 2 years ago. We had a stuio unit that was very roomy. It had a small kitchen, dining table, couch/bed, and king bed. During my stay I never saw anyone at the pool. A small crowd of... more

Exchanged into this dero through RCI, and after being hit with all sorts of unexpected "taxes" before getting a key, one then gets blackmailed into a timeshare sales presentation in order to get a (not available otherwise) rental car. And you can't stay here unless you have a car, this place is miles (literally, many) away from a restaurant, or... more

Xanadu is in the process of renovation, so a fair number of features that are clearly listed as available by RCI, the miserable outfit that does timeshare swapping, are simpy not available. Examples include tennis and exercise gym. The single tennis court is available, and there's a net, but no fences! Imagine trying to play tennis without a fence! And... more

We were informed that the property is slated for a major building project for new resort buildings and renovation of the high rise hotel. There is a lot of empty land around the existing buildings, but since the hurricane damage to the island was 4 years ago, we cannot understand why this resort and some others haven't completed renovations or... more

Just as many of the other reviews stated, this is great if all you want to do is lay on a quiet, rocky beach. When we arrived to the Xanadu after the rocky Discovery cruise, I was impressed with how nice the front desk area was. We were then asked to go outside and follow the pathway to the hotel... more

Being RCI timeshare members, we wanted to go to the Bahamas in Mar 2008. We had the opportunity to go to Xanadu this year and as a property without a rating, it did sound a little iffy, but we said "hey, we are going to Freeport, Bahamas". About a month prior, we happened to be looking at the Trip Advisor... more

We stayed there the last week in March and found it very peaceful and they had a great beach. We have been to many resorts in Bahama's and Mexico and I have never seen a resort with a beach this large. Yes they did suffer some damage from the hurricane and are in need of some renovations but overall the... more

Seven friends and I stayed at the Xanadu the last week of March for our spring break. The place was a complete ghost town, there were less than 10 rooms booked out of the 178 they have available. The hotel is completely secluded from anything the nearest shop, restaraunt, bar, or any type of entertainment worth visiting was a least a... more

if there are any positive reviews written about this place it is probably by the owners of it becasue this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The people were all mean it is a 20min cab ride to get anywhere (casino, bars, etc) and we had no AC or power in our room for half the trip.... more
