We have just got back from an outstanding family Sunday lunch at The Clytha Arms, which we sort of discovered purely by chance on the way back to Brum from Gower. It's perfect at exactly 90 mins between the two; easy to find from Abergavenny, just near Raglan Castle. Warm welcome, eager young staff. We were invited to sit down... more

I travel & work quite widely in the UK, and The Clytha Arms is my favourite "pub with rooms". Andrew, his family & staff provide an informal yet superb quality of life for the holidaymaker or anyone working away from home- an excellent selection of hand-pulled ales, a breakfast where no request is too much trouble, top class evening meals... more

The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean. The compliments tray was the best I have ever seen, and the selection of toiletries really good. There were dressing gowns provided... more

Good to excellent food (try the fish soup) and choice of ales. The rooms were high quality, very comfortable and well stocked with teas, coffees, toiletries etc. Characterful bar, including bar billiards, plus a plentiful supply of free olives and more. Large attractive gardens. Only slight niggle being an old cobweb in the bathroom and too much dust on the... more

It was hospitable and cosy and we felt great! I'm going to try it again with my new partner soon and cannot imagine it warranting recent two poor... more

Booked in here for the night on a trip to visit family. Found it in 'The Good Pub Guide 2005' as 'Dining Pub of the Year for Wales and it had also an award for accomodation so we were looking forward to a very pleasant stay - how wrong we were. Our first impression of the room was that it... more

We returned from a short break at a fantastic country house hotel in Powys , Wales on Saturday 19 Feb 2005 . I had planned our lunches on our trip with the help of good pub guide books , one of those pubs was the Clytha Arms . It seemed the perfect place to stop for lunch . The guide... more
