A very tired and in need of some love property. Although the management were very friendly and did make a considerable effort to keep the very loud, shouting and swearing coming from the bar area and outside the premises to a minimum, it still encroached upon our groups enjoyment of our evening meal and comfort. This feels very much like... More

A decent village inn. This place is no frills. The bedroom was a bit tired but overall it was fine. The food is definitely no nonsense in terms of presentation but there was a good choice and it was extremely well prepared and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals we had. The service was very efficient. Breakfast was fine. The... More

Went here for a sunday lunch and was very impressed. Service was fast and courteous, food cooked nicely with good sized portions, and place overall very nice! Only loses one point due to a few too many tables in the dining room which made things a little noisy but overall would definitely return again!!

Lovely place in picture perfect welsh village. Walked around the village and up the canal. Hotel very historic, room had exposed timber beams but otherwise very modern. Free wifi downstairs but didn't work in our top floor room. Great family run hotel.

We stopped here after a long walk around Pistyll falls for a simple meal and got just that. Because we were with a dog we were'nt allowed in the restaurant part but we could have food in the bar area. My wife had chicken tikka , i had half a chicken with greens and my kid got a hamburger. While... More

My partner & I plus several different groups of friends have been here 3 times in the past month for two evening meals and one Sunday lunch. Food is good, locally sourced, mostly home cooked and at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly and helpful and I guess it would be a bonus if you liked real ale. In... More

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic, dinner was fine - large servings, we definitely didn't go hungry. Our room was huge, and clean. Stairs a bit steep, but not much they can do about that! Only a little bit of on-site parking, but really appreciated the free wi-fi. Overall quite a pleasant spot to stay, and quite reasonably... We have a holiday a few miles from the Talbot and have been using it for a few years now. Although we have never stayed overnight we have never heard a bad word spoken by people who have. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and the locals who frequent the bar are friendly and welcoming, in fact we have... More

We stayed for a Saturday night recently. The double room was lovely and the ensuite clean and spacious. If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend bringing a sleep mask and/or earplugs as the curtains don't block out much light and the dawn chorus/late night drinker sounds aren't kept completely out by the windows. Lovely staff everywhere and the steaks in... More
